Default rear upper control arm question?

I have just aquired a 97 cobra that has had a few mods done to it and still not sure if i made a mistake or not. my thing though is im worried about the rear end right now. the cobra i have has had a tranny swap it now has a 6speed demon tranny in it and has had a performance suspision put on it. My question for now is are the rear upper control arms a must have on the car or is there something that can replace them? Im asking cause my car doesnt have any upper control arms on it. please any help or advice is much app. thanks

no none. the only thing keeping the read end from twisting is a bar running from the bottom of the center chunk up to the tranny and it is bolted to both solid. I had a similar setup on an old trans am but it was made that way. I had a buddy look at it the other day and was told car was set up for road racing. i dont know

Did you buy it at a private sale. If so I'd ask the previous owner what the deal was. Are the mounts for the control arms still there? I did a little research and can't even find anyone that has done this swap before. Does this look like a homa made set up or something that was bought and installed.

Oh, OK. Yeah Its had a torque arm installed. Thats what those are called. It should also have whats called a panhard bar. Camaro's and Firebirds are setup that way from the factory. If the mounts are still there, you could swap it back to stock style, with upper arms. Its not necessary though. You can probably get stock ones for 20 bucks or so at a junkyard, or you could buy nice ones too.
