    Question Does anybody know where?

Hi to all! I hope everyone is having a great summer start. I was wondering if anybody knows where Ford hides the remote reciever for the keyless entry on a 1999 V6 Stang? (A quick history) Back in 2000 I purchased a totaled 1999 V6 Stang with 4000 miles on it for the wife and restored it. It was a great deal. $6000.00 for the car, $2000.00 for the parts and about 40 hours labor. The only problem was that they did not have the remoted for the keyless entry. (My understanding is that all 99's and newer this was standard and not an opion) Well,6 years later it is starting to be annoying not having the remotes so I purchased new ones and I need to find the box so I can program to recieve the new remotes. I will post pics of the wife's V6 on my site sooner or later. Thank you for any help. Take care all.

I bought new ones from Ford when I bought the wife her 99. The parts counter guy was nice enough to come out to the car and programm them for us, but he had a paper behind the counter for the steps to program them. Might want to get with the dealer and check with them for the step by step process.

The Generic Electronics Module (GEM) serves this purpose in the '00. There is no module in the trunk similar to the older systems. The GEM is under the drivers side of the dash, look for a black box about 9" long, 4 inches wide, and an inch and half deep. Please don't hold me accountable for exact dimensions...it's the only black box under there close to these dimensions. HTH.
