It's a transponder key... they're expensive anyway. I was expecting to pay a hell of a lot more than that! lol

I had a situation a bit worse one time, someone stole my keys...the only keys I had
...and AAA actually covered a locksmith to make me a new set; man was I lucky!

I Had to break into my Mustang about two weeks ago bcuase I locked my only set of keys in the trunk while I was test fitting my new trunk lid cover. Got a coat hanger and pulled that lock up first try. Maybe this is why my stereo has been stolen twice. I went and got a spare key ($5.65) the next day.

I guess I was lucky with a $50 bill when I locked my keys in the RUNNING car at the post office. . .Actually It was more expensive than that, I manged to leave 3 netflix DVDs on the trunk lid -- those cost me $20 each.
I had a key made for my wallet that will open the door ... won't start the car, but at least I can get back in.

What is a transponder key? I have never heard of it before.

A transponder key is an anti-theft feature. The key has a chip in it that has to be programmed into the car's computer. The car won't start unless the car knows the chip. So someone can't just hotwire it.

Oh ok I guess I should have known. My car has that crap. So its gonna be expe sive to get a new one made lol. Good thing I have two sets.
