Shift Knob Help!

I bought a beautiful new cobra shift knob, however, I can't get the stock one off! every time I go to take it off, the leather on the knob twists and the knob doesn't. there are no screws that attach it to the shifter, nothing! In my gt, the thing just screwed right off, so likewise I thought this one would be just as easy! I have used super grip pliers, the whole nine yards. Can someone help me please?! I want to put on my cool new shift knob!

mine twisted right off....dont know what would cause the leather to come loose from the knob!! you could try cutting the leather off and try using the pliers again!! hope you can get it off

Mine simply unscrewed. Maybe whoever owned it before constantly gripped it making it extremely tight or twisted the other way and got tired of it being loose and lock tighted it on there. Good luck man. I hope everything works out ok for you.

I've seen this before on a firends GT, if you lift up while twisting the leather the knob may come off leaving the threaded insert on the shifter which you can then remove with a pair of plyers or vice grips

just make sure you are really pulling up very hard while turning
