Default New Question - best CAI For 04 cobra?

I would like to pull the air from the fender, but I've seen some user tales on other forums saying bad things about the Densecharger. I would rather not pull hot air from under the hood. I've seen the CAI test in the magazine with the cobras and can't remember if the UPR fender one was any good. What about the MAC fender CAI?
    Any comments on this?

Make sure it does not have a 90 degree angle. I would go wiht a K&N straight shot but that is just me. get one from a lighting and run it from your MAS down. seen a lot of people do this and put a shield around it works great.

umm...unless you know what you are talkin about, dont respond...please?

spence, if you want real cobra answers go to svtperformance. but to answer your question...K&N FIPK and the JLT kits have been doing well. this kid bruntzy on here picked up 20+ with the K&N kit...there's a dynograph floating around here on the site somewhere

thumper do you drive a newer cobra? I know what i am talking about i had a fipk for a while i dynoed it i got 13 to the wheels. I threw on the one from the lighting and picked up 21 on the dyno. And that is not even a 03 or 04. Half the cost bigger filter and you get some nice gains. Get what ya want. If you are looking for answers to questions about newer cobras go over to svtperformace it kinda gets rid of the peopel that think they know what they are talking about when it comes to newer cobras when most of them drive older GT's or LX's Great site but if i were you you can go with that FIPK i would look on e-bay that is where i got mine picked it up for 130 new shipped. beats 230 that advanced auto is charging.

i've seen enough 99-01 cobra graphs to know what i'm talking about when it comes to mods like that.

again, another person claims 13whp from an intake on an NA 4 valve. post up the dyno graph because i dont believe you. i've seen dyno graphs of friends cars with x pipe, catback and FIPK, and they cant even reach 15whp gains...i'll try to find a dyno graph of their somewhere in my garage

as i always say...i dont tolerate INTERNET RACERS...if you'd like to carry on with this friendly argument, go look into a thread where another member...who claimed mighty numbers for a Mach CAI...insisted i was wrong and claimed my knowledge on the 4 valve Mach/Marauder motors was not up to par, and then left because i started to pull facts.

and as far as me directing him to svtperformance.com, i'm not steering away members, and have no intentions of doing so...i am simply giving him advice as to where to find out the best sources for 03/04 cobras mods

I don't think you can wrong with just about any setup for the 03/04. There was a syno shootout in a 5.0 mag a while back, most made the same power. seems the best of the bunch was good for 25rwhp.

I bought a densecharger setup...oops...not much more than something you could piece together in the plumbing section of your local hardware store. I like the looks of the steeda setup myself. I've been contemplating getting it for my car.

90 degree bends have been responsible for poor driveability at times. I haven't had any problems with my current setup, but others have. A lot of times problems can be corrected by clocking the MAF until the issue clears up.

I'd be most inclined to go with a straight shot setup that includes a shield to draw the air from the opening in the fender. I installed an unshielded FIPK on my car and lost 2 tenths at the track due to underhood heat. Everything about the straight shot style is better IMO, right down to filter cleaning time.

The K&N FIPK cannot be beat...I have seen gains averaging out to 20 at the rears. When we had the 03 we saw a tremendous gain over the MAC CAI we had on the car when it was bought.

So if I do the JLT CAI I should get the one called the True CAI? The RAM air one is just an open filter and the other is called the Buget CAI, which reminds me of the K&N. The JLT True looks more like the UPR or the MAC fender CAI (not the straight shot). Sounds like some people have luck with Densecharger and some don't. It easily won that shoot out in the 5.0 magazine article over the K&N and others. I assume that the Densecharger 'clocking' of the MAF means rotating it till it works. I like the look of the JLT one.

One more question - where is the MAF in the pictures of the JLT? Is it relocated to the fender?

That pipe gets soo hot though.. I've found some wrap that guarantees not to heat up the pipe at all..
