    Default Cold Air Intake

I just installed a new K&N cold air intake and it runs good until you release the gas and it starts to feel like it is choking and studders a little bit i sent this also on the v6mustang.com and someone said that theres does it to is this a normal thing when you install it or something else.

Turn the key of and on a few times then take the car out a drive the shit outta it for about half an hour. Then get a bite to eat or just chill for twenty-thirty minutes and do the same and drive the same. Sometimes it takes a few trips to get your Computer retrained to different settings. I have had problems like that and this normally worked. Hope it helps ya.

got a question i called K&N and asked them also and they said it takes about 250 miles for the computer to change over does that sound right to anyone who has installed one before and how long did it take for it to finally chage over

I never had it do that, Did you hook up the tube from the valve cover to the back of the intake?

I've heard of the engine needing to be reset but not to that extent. I had no problems with my CAI. I regularly disconnect the battery to work on stuff and drive it afterwards with no problems.

of course, I was going to ask you that, but figured you checked. Any leak in that area will cause issues.

fix that and you should be good to go. also for further reference if your taking stuff off or putting stuff on disconnect the battery it automatically resets itself and calibrates itself again

VP96Cobra pretty much nailed it but if also by any chance you were really getting wild with the tools wanting to get it done quick, check the throttle body, TPS, all that stuff in case it got knocked hard. (Part of my intake system fell victim to some hard hits and it threw off the air/fuel ratio.)

ummm for mine i went to Napa and bought electronic connector cleaner for the MAF but dont spray it directly on the sensor to much cause its highly sensetive hold it a decent distance you know what i mean? for the throttly body just flip it back and forth and see if it sticks if it does get some carb cleaner from napa as well. what do you mean you put it on a stock engine with no mods? im confused now lol. is it just the filter or is it a cold air kit?did you put anything on the intake to clean or recharge it or is it a brand new one?

that fluid could have gotten on the MAF (i dont think you have to spray the fluid on the new ones) how longn did you let it sit before putting it all together and driving it after you sprayed it?

when you first but them they dont need to be charged. was it already redish(the filter)? and for future reference let it sit at leat 30 min before installing because all that stuff gets sucked in your engine and on your MAF which i think might be the prob you got some on there
