Well, it depends on what you'll do with the car. Sticky tires aren't going to last very long. You just want a decent performance tire... the best you can afford.

You should make sure you like the tread pattern and the side walls too (design and width. Whether you want a small side wall or taller ones) It matters for how the car sits on the road.

I have a 17x8 on the front with a 235 tire. The car is lowered. I get a little rub at full lock. My front wheel wells are larger than yours also. I run a 17x9 in the rear with a 255.

Hi StangGT5.0, here's another set of wheels for ya... Ford Racing 17x8 1999 polished aluminum Cobra wheels from Summit Racing. I wanted 17x9 '03 Cobra wheels but didn't want to give up my tires, Fuzion ZRi (ultra high performance summer) - 17x8's fit the bill.

These tires are fairly "hard," as I bought them to last a while with a long commute. They're fine in dry weather and a straight line, but not the stickiest around corners or in the rain. The Yokohama tires on my older Stang were better at that, but didn't last as long.

I bought them from a company called afs like 6 years ago. At the time they were the only ones making a 17x8. Nice wheels I like them a lot.

I am running 16x8 all the way around with Kumho 245x50's on all four. I have some rub when backing out but it fills the wheel wells in the front and the back. No rubbing when I do speed bumps. I prefer the thicker side rubber to others who want a taller wheel on small side wall.

I paid $650 for the Cobra R's delivered from CA. Included lugs and lock hubs. They are in most of the magazines.

that's almost my set-up. Looks like a good package deal. Get them in and put them on... nice. I would have ordered for them but they only had one chrome wheel in and wasn't sure when the next shipment would be in.

    Go for it.

I run the 17X8 99 cobra rims with 245's up front and 275's out back. The car is lowered with Eibach Springs in the rear and coil-overs up front, no rubbing at all. You might have to remove the rear quad shocks to get the backs to fit. I also don't rub on turns, but I run the FR manual rack and pinion with offset bushings. If you want super sticky for the track go with Mickey Thompson ET streets, super sticky for the street, go with Mickey Thompson Drag Radials, but as Crimson mentioned, remember this, the stickier the tire, the shorter the life span. You also don't want to get caught in the rain with either of the above mentioned tires. Good luck.
