    Default boost psi

How much boost in psi can a stock 5.0 handle without damaging the motor?

I would say if you stay around 6psi you should be ok.

6psi seems kind of low. I was looking in to the procharger kits rated for 14-20psi.

20psi will probably crack a stock block. I have seen 10psi on them, and HerNastyNotch on this site had 14psi running on a stock block.

i had 16 psi running through my vortech blower and i have 14 psi running through my turbonetics turbo on a stock 302 bottom end.

when two hearts race... both win.

i have the kenne bell 1.7 at 9 psi and its awsome. valet feature in case the wife wants to drive it i can turn the supercharger off. lol Steve Petty, and tim lynch are friends, and we got into it about psi a couple weeks ago. steve petty says theres noway a stock bottom end motor can hold up to 12psi and more.Tim lynch drove a cobra with an eaton and they turned it up 3 time and blow the bottom out of it everytime. Some guy that lives near me has a cobra with 2.2 with 17psi boost with stock bottom end.he says cobra comes with forged pistons, but steve says it has to be an aftermarket forged piston the stock forged piston will not hold it. so he bet the guy to race it and if he beats a stock bottomend cobra with 12psi and doesn't blow he has to show steve that the motor is stock bottomend and steve petty would pay him $10000, and put it back together and make it 10x faster and better.

Keep it at 14 to 16 like HNN said. You should be fine,if everything is setup right. A main girdle, with studs wouldnt be a bad idea though. The stock forged pistons are plenty strong. They are TRW's. We have put a 225 shot on a stock block with a girdle, numerous times(Not that it's safe or that I would recomend doing that to anyone). They always lived until human error blew them up.Such as leaving the switch on,ect.
