    Default Dreamr checking in (Newb)

Well hello folks. I was referred to this site by a fellow member over at the Explorer forum. After perusing your site for a bit I had to join the ranks so here's my hello.

To get a little better idea of who I am follow the link in my signature to my Explorer Registry. But to give you a brief Automotive History.........I am a bit of a ford nut. See I bleed blue and am obsessed with ovals.....Sorry I only have pictures post digital camera era.

1986 Ford Mustang LX Hatch (V-6)
I hated this car as I truly wanted an 87 5.0 at the time. But I was 15 and mommy said no V-8. I drove this car for about a year. At some point it blew a head gasket, and my mechanical education began. My cousin (2 yrs) older and I tore the engine apart under my dad's supervision and repaired it. Then I sold the car to my mom for 1500 so I could go to Costa Rica for several months.

    1985 Ford Escort GT
What a fun little shit this car was. I picked it up relatively cheap upon my return from Central America and began turning her into Idaho's first ricer...well I didn’t know it was rice back in the early 90's. The car was jet black with purple pin striping, black windows, and chrome rims, and of course had a good 1200 in audio equipment hiding in there (Note: My brother used to do the audiophile competition thing so I had lots of freebies to work with)
The one major modification that was done to this vehicle I was not involved in. My uncle had a wrecked SVO Mustang and pulled the turbo system out of it, I gave him free reign and eventually he made it work. Damn that was a quick little shit all things considered.

1988 Ford Mustang LX 5.o Special Service Package
One day as I was walking through a high school parking lot I saw this car and had to have it. Come to find out it was owned by a distant cousin and just happened to be for sale. I drove this girl for 3 years and loved every minute of it. The color scheme though was exactly that of my escort. The first year found me learning a lot about the 5.0 drive train and tinkering way too much. Pretty much all that was done was the minor bolt-ons and a whole heck of a lot of tuning in that first 1-23 years. The I put a rod through the side of the block.....At that time I was ready to scrap the project though I loved her to death........I called the mechanic who did all of my repairs...He laughed and said to load it up on the trailer and bring it over so we did. He pulled it into the bay and did some investigating realizing I needed a whole new Long Block. Off to the phone. 2 days later he had turned up a 94-95 cobra ( I forget the year, but that seems right). He said he could pull the whole drive train and get it to his shop for 1k. At the time I agreed, and also went to the yard to help pull it. The car in question was barely recognizable until we opened the twisted hood. I about crapped myself for what homeboy had turned up unknowingly was a 95 Cobra R with a 5.8 liter under there. Needless to say a couple grand later it was in and ran like a NASCAR. After losing my drivers license, and having my insurance suspended my parental units conned me into selling the car. Sadly I was 19 or 20 and really should have just parked it for a couple years.

    1995 VW GTI (Golf)
Why does every one get so irritated with me when I call my old red VW a Golf? They go with it until I mention the VR6 and then they get all pissy cause it is a GTI not a golf. Funny thing is that I swear it said Golf on one side of the hatch and GTI on the other. Point being, I had to have transportation after I got my license back and for some sad reason the golf looked like a responsible choice for a 21 year old kid who would be moving from the backwoods of Idaho to Seattle within the year. This was a great and very reliable little car, but it cost a fortune every time it needed repairs. Throughout the years of owning this car it never had a garage or even a driveway so all of the work had to be done at a shop. I eventually destroyed the sub frame trying to go camping and fishing. I welded the cracks and decided I would never again buy outside of the ford breed. I did spend time installing a nice audio system and blacking out my windows but that was it.

    1999 Ford Explorer XL 4x4
Well I bought this as I learned that my weekend recreation (Anything in the mountains) was killing passenger cars. On this project I have dedicated a lot of time and money, and all the work was done in my garage by……me. For a full write up you can follow the link below for the build thread which is always in progress. In short though She has 5" lift, 33" mudders, 4.56 gears with selectable dif lockers, a few of performance goodies, and a lot of detail stuff.

    1990 Mustang 5.0 'Vert
Well this girl just moved in back in September of '05. I was dying to get my old Mustang back or to just start another, and this is it. Sadly it is a 15 year old car and is going to need a lot of TLC. Luckily though it was well cared for and has a history of 3 middle aged owners. I am sure it has been opened up several times, but at least on average they do not treat a car as poorly as most 16 year olds. Upon purchase the car was a hundred percent stock. Since then I have done a lot of repairs and started the resto mod.
For the details follow the link to my build up thread over on the Explorer Forum. For now though here is a pic as she sits today.

Everything was actually pretty easy. It will take me a bit to learn to navigate the site and figure out what and where everything is. So far though I like it.
