    Default Vibration

I have a virbration in my car i located it as a space in the U joint in my drivetrain. The garage i took it to quoted me at $203 bucks to fix the thing. That sounds unresonable to me for like an 8 dollar part and a hlaf hour max of labor. What do you think?

Or you could just spend that money on an aluminum driveshaft and install it yourself!

Do it yourself. Tell that garage they can kiss your @$$ if they want to charge you that much to change a U joint!

Does it only vibrate when you accelerate slightly? My car makes a vibration noise(like metal chattering against more metal) when slightly accelerating at around 1800-2400rpm. It sounds like it comes from either the engine or underneth but i can't find out b/c it only happens when I drive. Is this possibly the U joint needing replaced?

ya thats exactly what it was in my car round 2nd-3rd gear it started vibrating. All it is is a little gap in the joint, that you can look for.

Thats a little high!!!! take the advise ,buy a aluminum drive shaft and install it yourself.all you need is 2 jack stands, placed on the torque boxes so the diff will lower all the way,and a 12mm wrech or 12mm socket (12 point) some muscle and 10 min later your good to go!!

I had a similar problem, and an aluminum FMS driveshaft solved the problem.
Could swear I felt a little *seat of the pants* increase too!!

I just got my 94 gt convertibel, The B%^$% I got it from did not take care of it all. So I just replaced my Driveshaft with an aluminum one. What a difference!!! But now i have this sound coming, sounds like some vibration from the aluminum shaft. Like when it hits resenonce frequency.
