    Default AOD Problems..

So, Ellie has been at the tranny shop for a few days. She is vibrating badly in overdrive. When in drive, it doesn't shake as bad. It seems to be around 40-55mph. Also, the speedo jumps around intermittently. The shop changed the fluid and filter, which helped the lag in shifts, but its still vibrating. It was suggested that it could be the overdrive band? I haven't had transmission problems before, so this is all new and rather expensive to me..

Is it based on SPEED of the car? is being overdrive a coincidence of being at a certain speed?

It seems to be the speed related, yes. When I would hit the same speed in other gears, or straight drive, it wouldn't do it. Which leads me to suspect the overdrive band.

I had this issue with my manual, it was a driveshaft issue, u-joint,cant remember exactly, but had it rebalanced and all was well... might be worth some tests...

The shop is getting back to looking at her on Tuesday. I let them keep her there for as long as it takes, since I have literally 4 other cars to drive.

So, they couldn't tell if the miss was the tranny, or the engine. They had me pick it up, and told me to do a full tune up. (Plugs, wires, cap and rotor) they did the fluid and filter and shifting is much better now. But, still vibrating badly. I did the tune up, which fixed nothing as far as the vibration.

So, I am leaning two ways here. Either it's a clogged cat, or I need a tranny rebuild/replace.

Look closely at all your tires too. They can do that sometimes. Harmonic balancer, driveshaft(like J said), tie rod. REALLY hard to say without riding in it.

You should be able to feel what part of the car it's coming from though.
