** NEW STUFF COMING ** WEBSITE 'ITEMS' AND SITE 'LAYOUT'

Hey all.. I see alot of people customizing their websites.. WHICH IS AWESOME. But I get alot of questions from people on how to do certain stuff as well...

I would like everyone who has used something on their website which was not orginally an option.. (like a spacer image... a sound clip, a video clip) to post up with the image they used... or with the code they used on how to get this on their website. Now I know how alot of you did it I just want to get a thread going to collect all of these things, this way I can write some code that people can just click on these items and have them automatically added to thier websites...

So if yer surfing the web and see something that ud like to be able to add to your website.. such as an animated icon/smiley.. a spacer image.. just post it in this thread and ill make sure I add it to this upcoming "ITEMS' page which will be available to all users.

I hope this makes sense and Im going to start posting some examples.. hopefully others will follow and we will have abig collection which should make the websites even more unique and enjoyable.

Yes, thats fine.. I will be writing the page so people dont have to know that.. they can just click on ADD SONG... and it will ask them the appropriate values.... keep em coming.

Other things Im planning on doing... an option to change the layout of your site.

Turn on or off: nominations / latest visitors / rank / face-off record / hunt items

I would like to know how mysticcobra has the "you are here" floaty things on his site, where the page descriptions are...it's cool :cool: and the slide show!

OMG MysticCobra's has the coolest website, all that stuff would be great to know I wish I could make a slide show like that!!!

You can make the slide show using Windows Movie Maker.
Once you create one save it.
upload to online server
and post to your site just like your would a song like this

oh yeah, when you save it in Movie Maker, choose to save it as a broadband size (think it was 500 something kb or something like that)

Music is the thing most users want. well i wont re-post the music HTML, but thats the most popular thing i get asked - "how'd u do that". So i've been helping members out with music for some time now. so J, if u can add a control to add music, so its as easy as u have it to build a site, that would be a great addition. I just cant get music to work (auto start) if the file is stored on the GS server. So a fix for that would be cool.

J, u've already made it easy for TEXT to be changed, (SIZE, COLOR, ETC). :devil:

I know that scripting could open up a can of worms but that could add a touch of originality to alot of the sites.

i also use a scrolling marquee with an embeded PIC. heres the code for those who dont know how.
change the numeric settings for the desired look.

Well I put it up and it is scrolling all the pics on my site instead of the one I put in the code :lol: I'll keep working on that!!

You can choose either

Ranks displayed at top (default)
Ranks displayed at bottom
No Ranks displayed

Try em out.

Just added option to turn off Nominations and Visitors on the right side of your pages.

J, thanks for adding the "green" bars for showing "new" messages.
Can you add an option to keep unread? like "mark as unread"

this way...if you don't have time to reply to someone you can keep it as unread until you have more time.

sometime's if I get too many messages at once, I get worried that I overlooked a message and forget to reply to someone.
