update, got my new (used) Saleen basketweave wheels & they are in good condition!! i also may have just scored the complete authentic Saleen 5 lug rear disc setup w/ every part needed for the swap for 250.00 shipped!!! this will be a very expensive few weeks having dropped over 1000.00! oh well, its well worth it to have my car sporting nearly all real Saleen production parts. i am now in the process of refurbing the wheels, cleaning up minor curb rash & repainting the centers gray & polishing the outer wheel lips.

looks like its coming along nicely !! Any idea if you be using a stock shortblock Nicole ? That plays a big role in head options. I know you want different but the TFS heads cost less and make within about 5 HP of AFR 185's. They are much better than the 165's.Theyre the only 2.02 valve head you can use I believe.Thats why you see so many. I'd go with them and a Holley intake,or the Holley kit you mentioned as a alternative. All in what ya want.

heres a few updated pics of the work i am doing on my car during the 88 Saleen makeover. the 88 mustang here is now stripped of all of the its 1990 Saleen SC parts except the wheels until i get a few more parts from another deal i am working on. the back of my hatch & the new Saleen wing need to be repainted but not a big deal. all in good time!

no, the silver stripes on my car were only used on the 1990-1993 Saleen SCs & 89SSCs. i will be adding all the correct for 1987-1988 Saleen decals when the paint & buffing is done.

so today i recieved a few heavy boxes from Fedex! is was all the Saleen 5 lug rear disc brake parts & axles! all this stuff was removed from an 88 Saleen & going into my 88. it was another great deal i couldnt pass up!

i have also finished the restoration of my 1987-88 Saleen mesh/basketweave wheels. they came out looking great. i removed any & all rurb rash & marks & polished the outer wheel lips. i then sanded the center mesh areas & repainted them smoke gray. it was tedious prep work but well worth it & very rewarding!

hey, you should have gone to the NH Mustang club dyno day today, check out my blog on the home page.

i am hoping to have them on the car within the next few months. i need a new tires all around so thats whats holding me up. i need to install the 5 lug Saleen disc parts but that shouldnt be hard at all. i would have liked to go to dyno day but my car is in pieces & not pretty right now. next year!

update time :-) i finished the full Saleen 5 lug swap on my 88 & installed the restored 87-88 Saleen basket weave wheels. everything went together perfectly & tested mint! heading to the paint shop soon i hope! need to finish this up.

nice job! so how are you going to paint it? what color?

btw....are you going to keep the mirrors painted the same as the car?
I think they should be redone in trim black for more authentic look?

funny you ask about the mirrors. yes, i am going to repaint them black along with various other black moldings for a cleaner OEM look. as far as the wing & hatch paint work & having the whole car buffed out, that job is going to taken care of by a good friend at his paint shop. the car wil forever stay this color red. i really like the color it is.

Since this is a place to for everything Saleen I have a rant I'd like to pitch out there for everyone. One bad thing about having a Saleen is some people that walk up to you car at a show think everything on the car came that way from the Saleen factory. I sit back at some of these shows and hear people comment. I'm like :cussing: and :censored: then as they walk away, I'm all :fu: . Well not really...I wouldn't ever do that to someone...but it STILL gets under my skin. Does anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of putting a storyboard together, but I don't want to drag around a bunch of crap to show my car. ARGHH!!!!!!! Rant off. Thanks for listening

yeah, i think a story board is a good idea Yellow. it can give people an idea as to what is factory OEM Saleen & what was added by you.

story boars are great! I have one that I bring so that people can know my stang is not originally a GT, and that I completely restored the exterior as well.

The hardest part is choosing what pics you put on the board...unlike our GS websites; you can only fit so much on there! choose your most worthy mods and caption each, and leave a place to put a full list of add-ons. It may also be worth while to list on your board what IS Saleen installed for those who aren't as familiar with your year saleen or saleens in general, then on the opposite side show what YOU added for mods.

well, back from the paint shop & all is good. the repainting of the entire rear hatch & wing came out great!! thought i would toss up a few pics. i should have the rest of my 84-88 Saleen decals (except the lower tribar decals) by the end of Labor Day. here is is all stripped of all its Saleen decals & emblems & awaiting the replacements :-) BTW, my user name is no longer 90SaleenSC. its now 88 Fox Saleen but my user name for some strange reason has not changed here in the forums.

just finished up removing the 89-93 Saleen windshield banner & installed the 84-88 Saleen windshild banner. looks beter in my opinion since everyone else has the later style.

OK folks, a new Saleen in the stable. Introducing 1987 Saleen #065. Mineral Gray with gray interior. I have changed the factory basketweaves out for the 3 Piece STERNS. I plan to do alot of underhood and performance upgrades. She is one of 280 built in 1987. One of only 24 Mineral Gray and 1 of only 14 with her options list. I am the 4th owner. She was originally sold in California and made her way to N.C. then S.C. and now Georgia. The rear valance is an 88 model but I have the correct 87 model valance and will be swapping it on her soon. Here are some pictures as she is with the addition of the STERNS so far:
