Question for you all. Does your stang have a problem following the ruts in the road? Problem as in whenever you're near a rut, the car jerks damn near off the road sometimes? If so, what did you do about it? Were you able to fix it? Did a bumpsteer kit help? Please help! I don't wanna get >owned< by a stupid rut!
Yes mine does jerk when interstate seams are going the same direction I am going. As far as I know there is no way to overcome this situation mechanically. I do think the biggest part of it depends on what type and size tires you are running. I have 245/40/17 goodyear eagle F1's. I think they cause it to be honest with ya. Hope this helps.
It is mostly due to the tires, in the winter I run 215/65/15 tires on my Gt and it barely does it, as soon as I swtich back to the 245/45/17's it feels like it grabs every rut
I agree tire size/ tread pattern is most likely the cause, ( depending on the roads condition) I use to run 245/45/17 Eagles I noticed it alot, Now I run 265's up front and 295's in the rear BFG KD ( didnt notice it as much )
However.. I have also seen this behavior being caused by an alignment issue. the wheels not tracking straight being off a few degrees from specs. the road condition ( crown ) changing the suspension geometry even further out of spec causing the tires to track like this \ / or \ | etc. an alignment will will correct this , if this is the cause
Yea, I had the same issue. I used to have stock wheels and tires 225/55/16 I think when I bought the stang and didn't notice it. But when I got the 245/40/18 tires it seemed like it would want to tavel out or something on the interstate. I recently got it realigned and it has subsided alot.
I'm running 245/45/17s. She's had an alignment, and it seemed to help at first, but now not so much. Maybe we should have gotten regular tires instead of low profile... Just really tired of not knowing if we're going to hit the ditch, the guardrails, or an oncoming car.
Just a thought. If you had an alignment and it seemed to help, you should have gotten a printout with the alignment, what it was when you rolled on the rack, and what it was when you left.Quote:

Usually this type of drifting is more prodominant with larger fatter tires
anytime you lower or upgrade wheels/tires you will notice it...mine does it, I will be upgrading to some wider tires here pretty soon....
or maybe adding a new stang to the collection (04 Cobra Vert :) )
I am running Kumho 245/50 16's and it's not as bad as my older off brand 225/60 15's that came on the car. That being said it still follows the grooves in the road at times. My wifes oldsmobile hardly ever does it on the same roads, but her tires are much more narrow.
Depends on how wide the rut is... I dont get jerked around to much with the 10" wide.
humm, mine does it too and is seems to be tire width related. mine did alittle bit with the 245 /45 tires on but then got worse when i switched to 275 tires all the way around.iam thinking of going back to a smaller tire up front.
