Picture with a P-51???

Hey Guys, The Reno Air Race Association is working with the Mustang Club of America to try and get a mustangs with mustangs show in Reno Nevada at a tentative date in June 2006. What we are trying to do is get a gathering of p-51 mustangs to come to the air show since there are barely 100 flying p-51's left in the US...If we can gather enough interest we can make this show happen with possible photo ops for your car with a P-51...I need to know if there is interest for an event like this, let me know if you all think its a good idea so we can make this happen...remember it isnt set yet but it may be in june 2006 and will for sure be in Reno Nevada, thanks guys and girls!!!!

Anyone in the NC/SC/GA area want to get pics of your stang with the Red Nose P-51..PM me....We could get a group up one day for photo shot. The P-51 is just outside the Atlanta area.

There hasn't been any activity on this for a while, but a date has been set - June 8-11 2006 - here is the info on the P51 side: https://www.stallion51.com/events/gml2006.cfm?axis_v=2

The airplane side of this is going to be HUGE! But I can't find anything about a corresponding car event on the web at all?

Being a big WWII airplane nut, I will be there for sure - possibly with the Cobra if there is a big Mustang car event as well? - I would like to do this event plus get some track time on a couple of the tracks out west - if the car is going all that way, then I'm going make the most of it ;)

Does anyone have any info about the Mustang car side of this event?

yeah, mustang club of america is still trying to work it out with ford and the Reno Air Race Association, when info comes it will be posted!

This would be awesome, I'd definatly be up for it.

bad news guys, due to time concerns and other car shows in the area interfering, the show will not be a go, we are still lookin to do something similar in the northern nevada/california area, but for now the show is a no go, sorry...

Someone needs to step up and make it happen - I can tell you that the last "Gathering of Mustangs" was just fantastic with all the P51s and Ford Mustangs in one place!

One problem I see is that Reno is going to be chock a block full of people flocking in for the P51 event - so it would make sense for a concurrent car event to be centered somewhere near, but separate from Reno - somewhere like Tahoe for example - and then on one or both of the weekend days, and caravan could be arranged to go to the airfield?

Hopefully a club or org in that part of the world will see that this is an opportunity not to be missed and put something together.

yea there is going to be an air show in Grayling MI june 24 with a hole bunch of wwII air craft too Jack Roush is bring his three up for that one

Im in San Diego and would kill for a good car show/ track run event.

We are setting up a photo op day with the P-51 here in Olympia within the next month or so, if anyone is interested.
It's the same P-51 that is on the front page of GS right now.
