Auto Trans Problem - Stuck in Park on my AOD - '96 GT

temporarily, you can put a key in the electronic shift lock underneath your steering wheel, to get you to and fro where you need to go


Well I have changed out the Stoplight switch and the brake/neutral cable and it hasn't changed anything. I checked all of the fuses also just to play it safe and the problem is still there.

No brake lights, turn signals and it won't shift out of park.

Not to be a smart ass but I had a buddy of mine with a similar problem. Get the car completely off the ground. Start car, put car in gear and use a hammer to semi-softly bang on the tranny. It worked for us, just try to be a little safer than what we did

Is this a car where the brakes have to be on before you can shift it ?
