for those with stangs in states where inspections/emissions tests are required- can you pass the inspection with an Off Road pipe? Just wondering b/c there arent inspections in Oklahoma so I have an O/R h-pipe and flowmasters and i may move to NC sometime...I was actually pulled over here for the pipes being too loud but just given a warning. thanks

If they emissions test, you'll need the cats. Alot of states do a visual test too.

I'm not sure how NC is about the inspections, but here in VA it all depends on the inspector. One place might look and another might not.

The don't really inspect the exhaust system in Nevada other than looking for an exhaust leak. I have an H-pipe on my car and it easily passes smog.

You could check the NC state webpage to see if they've got a motor vehicle dept. section; the procedure might be listed there. Some states not only do visual, but also hook up to the ODBII port and put a sniffer in the tailpipe to analyze emissions. If it's like that, might want to find a spare pipe with cats just in case.

Yeah, they use the sniffers here and you have to pass smog every year. Just a racket for the state to make some easy ass cash.

In NC all odb II cars get pluged in and tested it costs 30 bucks. All other cars are supposed to be put on a lift and checked. As mine is not odb II I take it to the place that just asks "do you have everything under you are supposed to?" Sure I do.
