My fiance and I are looking to buy one of those cheap economy-friendly cars.

So far, I have narrowed it down to:

2007 Fit Sport
2007 Yaris Liftback
2007 Nissan Versa

The Yaris is the cheapest and gets the best mileage.. and I'm oddly attracted to it. But, I want some other opinions.

Please don't say "CALIBER." We looked for one and priced it with the dealer, and.. we don't have 21K to spend on a one..

after looking at some pictures I am going to say Nissan Versa, not a bad body design, sporty even though its compact....I would def go with that one out of the 3 :beerchug:

LOL You really hadn't heard of any of those? When we went to Nissan to ask about a Versa, the guy was suprised that we even knew what it was. They don't hit the lots for another month!

I'm wondering about the Pontiac G5 Pursuit.. But I haven't seen one yet.

Are you serious? .. Wow. I guess that's what I get for bringing other cars to a Mustang board.

^ It looks like a minivan, but.. it's quite a bit smaller than either of my Mustangs.

Try the Chevy HHR ($16,500)- 2.2 liter 4 banger and has that old 40's look. Also look at the Scion xB (16,474) 1.2 liter 3 banger - Lot's of room for four and room to carry things. Considering these for the wife's new car. The HHR in burnt orange metallic looks so sharp. The xB has a one year special order on Lime Green. Last year was yellow. Each year they have one special limited edition color. The wife like the red.

I have seen an xB relling for $17888 on a lot when you can get a nice stock 2006 new model xB for $14,575 out the door.

Small is awesome gas mileage is what so many are looking for, but if you're going to spend some time in the car is should be roomy. Think about great gas mileage and room to move.

Hyndai here is a having a sale... The accent for $5995 and the Elantra for $9995. The Elantra is nice and you should be having the sale somewhere in your area. :nutkick:

We were thinking about an Accent, but I'm not attracted to the Accent, XB, XA, and especially not the HHR.

I'm looking to spend not much above the base model options, as I only need it for mileage.

The Fit, it can fit a Llama and a surfboard in it! I haven't seen the inside of the Yaris yet, they never have one on the lot.

OK, gotta go for the obvious, what about a new Focus? Decent mileage, decent aftermarket parts availablity (that makes future repairs more affordable).
Remember that fuel economy is only relevant if everthing else is inexpensive (insurance, cost to maintain, etc) too. Check the insurance rates on the cars you are interested in, that may make up your mind for you.
Good luck!

We've been trying to get insurance quotes through Geico, which is what our Mustang is insured under. However, they don't have a Yaris on their coverage-list yet. We're thinking of heading down there, and checking it out with the office.

Is a Honda Jazz the same as a Fit? Check out the red car in this link....I think that it looks sportier than the ones you mentioned....

Yes, a Fit is the same as the Jazz. The Jazz has been selling elsewhere for a few years now, and they're finally gettin' it over here.
