As some fo you know I recently bought a 1989 Thunderbird Super Coupe. Well I was at the auto hobby shop today and seen this 85 Red GT so I started talking to the guy and he said he was thinkin bout sellin it. I asked him why and he said cause it only gets 9 mpg. I was like yeah right. I looked closer and the car only has 84,000 miles on it and it is completely stock. Factory air cleaner set up and all. The guy started askin bout my t-bird and I said it only has the 3.8 supercharged V-6 and it no kiddin gets a lil over 20 mpg. He wants to trade me his stang for my t-bird plus 500.00. This Stang is in immaculate condition. t-tops and all. Heres my problem......... I have just recently got all the bugs worked outta the t-bird and it runs like a top. What should I do?????????????????? :nailbite: :ranting:

Thats what I am thinkin but man you should have seen how clean and un messed with this stang is. He said he bought it from a old lady who had it in her garage. and never hardly drove it. An 85 with 84,000 miles. I dont know if I can pass this one up.

The only aftermarket things I seen on the whole car was rims and tires and a different shifter handle. I miss my 86 I had sooooooo bad. I had to sell it before I moved to San Diego and have regretted it every since. Plus parts for the 5.o's are getting real cheap

Do what you feel is right. Take the GT down and have your mechanic check over the engine first. If you feel you'll regret not trading, then go for it.

Just went and test rode the Stang. Wifey had to drive cause of my knee surgery but man is that thing sweet. Sorry all you t-bird lovers I have to go with my gut feeling on this one and the 3.8 loses. If I can get this 85 up to par with the 86 I had it will be one mean machine. And the part I like the best is that it is totally un molested. It got a clutch change about a year ago and she said it felt fine so as of wednesday I will own 2 stangs.

I should be getting the Mustang today. He came by and took the T bird over to let his wife check it out. I did make a mistake before when I said it was an 85 it turns out that it is an 83 With only 84,000 miles. I cant wait to show ya'll some pics. Maybe tonight or tommorro. Thanks all for your help

ok its final he is taking the subs and amps out right now and said he will be back between 430-500 to settle the deal. Quick Question: Is there a way to get the back of the seat on an 83 to raise up about 2 inches. My wife is 5 ft nothing and 100 lbs soaking wet and she told me last night after the deal was already arranged that she could not see over the dash very good. It has the factory steering wheel which is kinda huge so I was thinkin bout puttin a grant wheel on it. Any ideas?
