the bearing itself is about 50 bucks from ford, the labor should be about 3-4 hundred

worth my while to get it fixed? or should i just get a clutch adjuster and put more pressure on it so it stops. why does this thing go out? Did i do somethign to screw it up or does it just happen? I only have like 50k on my car.

just replace it and tell them to inspect the clutch assembly

Mine started squealing when I put a new bearing in along with my Mcloud Stage II. After a firewall adjuster and quadrant adjustment the noise went away.

35 bucks from jegs.
but ford clutch quadrants adjust themselves would that work with a firewall adjuster

If you do replace it..do the clutch and pressure plate while your in there.

might as well. because your clutch is going to go out eventually, if the tranny has to come off might as well replace the clutch while the tranny is off so you dont have to pay to have it off twice.

So i shoudl get a new clutch while i am in there and get them to install this firewall adjuster that way it does not squeel 2 weeks later? Are these rednecks gonna have a clue what i am talking about when i go in there and ask for a firewall adjuster? what is a good price for a clutch? Mine is really stiff. and how much for a pressure plate?

if you get a hi performance clutch its gonna get stiffer. stiff clutch= most of the time good clutch

A throwout bearing going bad typically makes a chirping sound. If you're somewhat mechanically inclined and have a halfway decent set of tools, you might be able to do the work yourself. I've done lots of clutches for my friends in my garage, it's nice to have 2 people so you have help lifting the trans in/out. Just make sure you have a clutch alignment tool, (some clutches come with them) and a throwout bearing. There is a pilot bearing in the end of the crankshaft you might want to replace as well as a rear main seal (since you've got things taken apart this much). Check your flywheel to see if it's glazed (smoked)... most clutch manufacturers suggest resurfacing it. (Although I haven't done this too often; the last place that resurfaced a flywheel for me took too much off and I had problems that resulted in a new flywheel.) An aluminum adjustable clutch quadrant replaces the factory plastic one and offers adjustability under the car; adding a firewall adjuster lets you fine tune the adjustment from under the hood. Feel free to E-mail me if you have any questions.

yeah they all get familiar with working on fast cars because they want to be called up to the big leagues (FORD).
