we know that svt is no more..so who will make the new cobra? saleen, roush, steeda??? and what kind of power do u think it will ahve?

Actually, I'm pretty sure SVT is still around, but thier only project is 07 Mustang. :(

i know, but if it comes from that site, they know their stuff....i hear dodge is dropping its performance company (dont know what its called) as well

Ford released in a press conferance that they are suspending the devision until the new cobra is done, and then when the lightning returns.

I beleive that Dodge is droping SRT to return to MOPAR.

svt still exsist they are now working on the new cobra , they just say it doesent exsist because it isnt going to make cars for like two years

They are not gone, just on an engineering break. I bet the 07 is going to be a nice SVT model to own.

I don't buy it and neither do a bunch of guys in that thread from svtperformance. If it where true it would be at blueovalnews.com and in reputable printed publications.

However if it does go down I would hope for Carrol Shelby to pick up the pieces and then maybe Jack Roush's organization.

Keep the faith - SVT faith that is.

SVT will have the cobra in 06. The have decided to scrap the lightning, but I was told by a very reliable souce that SVT will have the Cobra they are just laying low right now. He was also talking about it being 500HP off the lot :wow:

i dont know carol shelby is getting kinda old and i dont trust his judgement much anymore...did u see the cobra rims he had on his mustang when he was on rides? no way!

The fact that Shelby was driving a 03-04 Sonic Blue Cobra is more than enough for me!

The lighting and focus are gone for now. But the cobra is not 06 or 07 it will be back.
One of the guys i know is doing a steeda 05 stang and he said there will be a cobra still just no lighting or focus.

first svt scrapped the lightning, and then an article came out and svt is no more...so right now there is no high performance team from ford. GT is the highest mustang model, so they were looking for someone else to pick up the pieces and produce a truely kickass cobra. I cant find the article, but im sure someone will post the link.

I have it on Good word that SVT will continue. Maybe not under SVT name but it will be back. The Lightning was a marketing decision from the bean counters but the cobra is on going. Also a special ed (R)should be out in 07/08 year. I am saving my pennies for that one.

Brad Barnett, the owner of a large mustang site has contacted and SVT rep in person and was told the rumours were false. Brads info is usually pretty good and you can go here to see the thread and ask questions. I still encourage people to write and show support for the lighting.

SVT rep: NO, it was a rumor that popped up over the weekend from a post over on Modularfords.com. We are not planning on closing our doors and all engineering effort has been focused on the next generation Cobra. Even though it is a rumor, we do appreciate the faxes, e-mails, written letters, and calls of support that everyone has given us. We are reading everyone that is sent to us and where possible we are replying (with a standard format letter/email) to those people.

Rumors, rumors, rumors.

Hau Thai-Tang was just promoted a couple weeks ago to run SVT, now John Coletti's boss. His charter is to take SVT to a new level starting with the 2006 Cobra.

These things get a life of their own

As far as Shelby is concerned, if a new Shelby Mustang comes to life it will be one of two things.........

A) An aftermarket conversion like Roush, Saleen, Steeda, etc that Ford will keep their hands clean of.

B) A car built entirely by Ford with the Shelby name on it under license.

The last time I talked to the people in the control center, they were still not sure how this was going or not going to transpire.

Shelby is building his version of the 05 mustang...talked to some one who has seen it and i know his rep. He is not full of BS.

I have seen this on a few forums that i stop by. I do not belive it. I called up svt and the guy said it was a joke. He said the only reason the scrapped the lightning was becuase they wanted to make the cobra. They said in the years past the first year of a new body style they have trouble with the cobras. So they are tryign to avoid that this time. He said that nobody is packing there bags and it makes them mad that somebody would start somethign like that out of spite. And if you think about it ever cobra they make is sold. Most of the sold before they get to the dealer. So why would they cut out somethign that makes them such good money?
