Goodbye GT, Hello Cobra!

Well I was driving around with my friend today in the mustang, we were talking about things I could do to my car, and after a while we decided that rather than dumping tons of money into the GT, I should just save up until June and get a '96-'98 cobra. So that is what I am going to do, I am just going to save up all the money I have, and come June, I am going to sell the GT and go buy a Cobra as a graduation present to myself. I have 4-1/2 Months to go, and then the GT is gone.

What do you guys and girls think?

Sounds good! I wanted a cobra, but the prices are just too high right now. I just sold my 04 GT and I am going to look at a bone stock 95 GT vert with 66,000 original miles. 5.0's are alot cheaper to modify, so it will be hooked up pretty quick! In about a year or so, I am going to get an 03/04 Cobra, so it will be worth the wait!

Your idea sounds pretty good, but if it were me I think I would invest the money I was going to spend on a 96-98 cobra and put it toward your car. You already have a sweet ride now just mod the hell out of it and it will be even sweeter :thumpupn:

I have seen some pretty good deals on '03-'04 Mach 1s!
If you are going pre IRS Cobra, maybe you should check out Mach 1s, too!

I think it would be a good idea. The 96-98 GT's come up short in HP, if I heard right they had less HP than the last 5.0s. My wife and I bought her a 97 Cobra for $9500 and it had 4.10s, CAI, h-pipe, cat-back, and 98 cobra wheels already. There are some good deals out there, and you will love the HP.

Good idea, it would cost about the same price as a 96-98 Cobra, to mod your GT out to bad a$$ performance standards.

I have added up all my hard earned cash, plus the normal quote for my gt ($7,000) and I think I will have enough. I'm going to wait a little while to see what comes up. No sense jumping on the first Cobra and then finding another that is cheaper and nicer.
