Dual-core with virtualization technology (allows partitioning of the processor/system to run multiple operating environments simultaneously).

On an Asus P5WD2 Premium mobo... Running stable at 3.72 GHz with Asus Star Ice cooler, 1066 FSB, and using Corsair TwinX2 675 (667) ram (2x512)... 74gb WD Raptor 10k drive...

Now for the quest to find the "perfect" video card... I'm thinking a 7800GT, whatcha all think?

I used to have a 6800GT on my old AGP system... I loved the thing but now I'm on a loaner MSI 6600GT PCI-E (compliments of PhaQGM...)

I chose the 920 because for the price it has strong potential (as you can see above)... If I could have it my way, though, I'd have an Athlon X2 4800+, but the damn thing is expensive as all hell...

I just finished my new rig.

AMD 64 - 3500 Venice OCed to 2.53Ghz(For now 3.0+ comming)
Abit AN8-Ultra
Evga 6800GS 256MB PCIe - You should look at one of these
1GB DDR600 G.Skill
Enermax Liberty 500Watt
120GB system drive
2 x 200GB storage drives
DVD-rom & DVD rw+/-

I will be going to a X2 when they drop a bit more in $$

What I like about the 6800GS is that, dispite it having less pipelines than the 6800GT, it runs cooler so it's better for SLi. It's fairly overclockable, and it also includes all the new features such as WM9 PureVideo acceleration, etc.

You've got a nice rig. My friend Tim (PhaQGM in the forums) has an A64 3500+ also. He's been hitting a brick wall with his Gigabyte mobo, though, so 2.6 GHz is running unstable.. Funny thing is that I had the same Gigabyte mobo he has but the Intel edition (nForce4) and I had issues OC'ing my 920 as well, so I got the Asus P5WD2 (955x based) and it was effortless. It's amazing what crappy VRMs can do to your overclocking experience.

He did try an Abit AN8-SLi Fatal1ty but it had a bad memory bank so he was having issues and returned it... It had some nice features, though.... Too bad it was broken.

That could be one of my problems I am having with OC-ing my system. I can get it to 2.6 and fail prime95 and memtest..I am wondering if the mobo could be the culprit?

I had a Gigabyte before and was having other issues with it.

That's the same problem he has... I had the same problem on my dual core with the Gigabyte motherboard.

Switched to the P5WD2 Premium from Asus, and I run Prime95 all day long with Burnmax pegging both cores at 100%, no failures.

Nice setup. I'm running the following:

AMD 64 - 3500 Venice clocked at 2.55
Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-SLI
Evga 7800GT
1GB of Corsair 3200 @ 466
Ultra Xconnect 500w psu
WD 74gb Raptor
DVD-Rom & DVD-RW

Eddie says don't do it, but I'm moving over to a dual core opteron. I think he's just jealous of the performance that machine will deliver.
