My starters goin bad...how do I..um..hotwire it? I dont know....but is there any way to start it when my starters goin bad?

if its a standard you can kick start it.

it could be your solinoid going bad

Could be a user error. lol nah check to make sure its not a few dead cells in the battery and if it is the starter i am sorry i changed one in the slobra and it took forever

the starter isnt engaging, i can hear it spin but doesnt kick. It starts once in a while, but not every time....Its probably the solenoid. Theres no one else here to help me push start it:( I guess i have to take the cab to work tomorrow and call up the ford dealership.

I've done that on a pickup before but don't think I would try that on my stang :lol:

yeah what he said. sometimes that will knock it loose if it is caught for some stupid reason. That happened to me with a starter on my truck and after i hit it it didnt do it again. :thumpupn:

check the solenoid and see if it wants to kick if it does then thats a good thing and u kno its not that.

i cant find the starter....the garage at this house is dark and i dont have a flashlight...does anyone know the location of the starter on a 98 3.8 stang so i can find it a little easier...thanks.

its on the passenger side up under by the firewall...I believe it you look under on the passenger side right behind the front tire (towards the door) you can see it by the headers if Im not mistaken...its a pain in the ass to get to if you cant get the thing on a lift just FYI, i had to beat one on my moms 96 and nothing...turns out the starter and the batt were bad though :lol:

yea i couldnt find it...the garage is way too dark, i dont think i could reach it from the top anyway...im really not looking forward to riding in a cab:(

I pulled mine off pretty easily when I swapped my clutch. It's not bad if you have enough extensions and a swivel
