Im about to take the engine out of my 94 and drop it into a 79 notch. I have a 89 gt parts car that I can steal stuff off of if I have to. I dont care about any guages, or anything else that doesnt have anything to do with firing this thing up. I have a a9l from the 89 with the complete mass air and injector harness ready to go on it. What else do I need to make this run. Im not sure about how to hook up the distributor or any timing related wiring. All I know about is the injector and mass air harnesses.
Anyone got any experiences with something like this?
All parts are available from the 89 gt for me to use.

The TFI module on the 94 is located under the MAF/air filter, it's on the distributor in the '89. The intake air temp sensor is located by the MAF in the 94, and it's in the lower intake manifold in the '89. Pick one harness or the other and stick with it. The accessories are set up differently, you'll have to swap or else convert to an electric fan setup. That would also require a fan controller. I'd be inclined to pull the parts from the donor and swap to the original style setup instead.

I fully understand some of those differences. The 89 intake, distributor, and accessories are going to be used in the 79. The harness from the 94 will still be in use, because im still gonna drive this car. Basically, Im just gonna use the long block from the 94, and all the stuff thats different is gonna be from the 89.
Thanks for the reply noslo.

If you got the cash.Just get you a MSD distributor, and box(6a,al,or whatever). You'll also want the rear out of the donor, because the 79 has a 7.5 instead of the 8.8 I do believe.

The 79 has the 7.5. The cars weren't made for any real power back then. You gotta update the rear for sure.
