Hey, Ive called around to get some prices on a yellowtop optima battery for my 03 gt. Ive come to the conclusion that they dont "fit" my mustang. A guy at pep boys suggested that they could probably fit it in there if they messed with the brackets. Does anyone on here have any personal experience with the yellow top? Can I put it in myself or will it not fit at all?

I have a yellow top optima and it fit perfectly fine in my 04 GT! It comes with a mounting kit that holds it down in the factory location, it has a screw adjuster at the bottom to tighten the battery down, so it won't move around. Trust me it works too! No movement at all!

I bought mine at the Sears Automotive place near my house. Of course they had to have an exchange, so I just dropped of my old battery the next day! I had a red top in my 96 GT and it fit perfectly fine! I think they are all the same size! I hope this helps.

I have the yellow top in my stang. When you buy it, make sure it has the little plastic adapter pieces with it. That is what you use to fit the battery in there. They come with the battery for free, so make sure you get em when you buy the battery.

I bought a red top for my '92, and it fits in the tray but it's not as wide as the one that was in it.
