Pictures for Hunt claims.

I'm gonna voice my opinion here for a second. I have seen a few people putting pictures of items, i.e. snowplow, snow blower, snow shovel and its bugging me people are voting these real. I understand you might be in FL or AZ and don't have these items around, but putting a picture of one next to your stang is pushing it. This is just opening the door for further claims, for example, I'll just take a picture of a Ferrari, Lambo, Bently and put them next to my stang, or better yet I'll put a Hooters calender next to it and submit a claim for the hooter's girl. The whole purpose of the hunt was for people to go out and find these items, not print a picture out on my printer and take a pic of that. Just because I don't have mountains near me, doesn't mean I get a picture of some. I suck it up and don't get the claim. :ranting: OK, I'm done.

how are you going to fake your car being in a mag? opening up a 5.0 mag and having your front tire on it? from some of you, it wouldn't surprise me.

I agree with you also, no offense to anyone but give us a break the pics are not a real claim. If you can't get the items, don't use a pic unless it says you can. If this would of been OK I would of used a pic of my MOM and DAD along time ago, since they are both deceased. Sorry my 2 cents also.

i couldnt agree more with everyones opinion on here so far..not to blow my own horn,but nobody has put more effort into getting hunts than me and everyone can do the same if they expect to get points for them...i think its a great idea,when i started doing hunts i thought this is really cool..as they started getting harder to find i had to start driving further away to get them. i even drove out of canada into the u.s.a. to get them them..if thats not an effort i dont know what is???????i think that if you dont have them and you cant get in your car to get them then tough noogies!!!!..i got screwed 2 months ago cause we dont have a pep boys up here...oh well..i guess i dont get it then...i didnt take a picture of something and stick it to the side of my car and call it a claim!!!!!!!!! i think this is the WHOLE IDEA behind getting them.going out and looking for them!!!!!!!!!...if the hunt was supposed to be that easy everyone would do it....some months you will get them...some months you wont...ive got 5 months before i get my car back out again should i be able to paste pics of everything on my car before i get it out again...i think not...nor will you ever see me do it either!!!!!!!!!i''d really like to hear from the other side too.scott

These people don't see to be laying the problem with the system or you J. The method you designed works fine. It's all directed at the idiot morons who vote for photos as real that should not have been posted to begin. It's like taking a photo with your mustang next to a tank and the photos shows the stang next to a fence with the tank, but it's across a four lane road, a small grass field and sitting on a pile of rocks.

My peave are angle photos. The same photo posted twice or an angle that may be two steps to the left or right, or a close up from the same pose as the first one. The people still vote these as real. People don't follow rules and they don't vote correctly. Some idiot thinks its cute to post a stuff animal next to their car when it's suppose to be a real one. Yeah that's funny until the morons start voting that its real.

This is all about the people wanting to play the game, without following the rules. They've lost sight about having fun getting the pictures, it's just about getting some images up there so you can get the points. We can't even police ourselves to get the voting right.

its nice to get the points for voting and checking out everybodys hunts..but when it gets to the point where all you have to do is download pics..something has to be done...and when you know its wrong and you send private messages to your friends to get them to vote it real...something else has to be done....you wouldnt have to do all the hunts.just the ones that have been marked as an obvious fake or laziness if you put up a marker like i said in the previous post

I've seen ones where the pictures are the exact same and it still gets voted real. But one person does not have the time to police every single picture...

Yet another drama....If you don't like the fact that ppl are using pics like that vote it fake...again no one can police the hunts any more that the face-offs...this whole site is designed to allow us...the members...to make these decisions, which by the way are personal and different for each of us. At least the stuffed animal is a 3 dimensional item. I admit I used 2 model cars for the movie replica claim, then the claim started stating no model cars. Apparently someone didn't like the fact models were being used, and I am stating my opinion about pics of items being used. No the claims aren't worth 200 pts, but your using these claims for the ult Hunt, which gives you 500 pts if you are the 1st one, and 250 for everyone else.

I have no problem with the system J, I am just giving my opinion.

You are not "difficult" by any means, in fact most of your captions for your claims have me LMAO. And if anyone wants to make a claim by thinking outside of the box, then great because I've done it myself.

I love doing the hunts, it is fun. But seriously I hunt down my claim. Last month I submitted all 20 hunts items and only have 19. I am waiting for an answer from J as to the location of my 20th claim.

It takes time to do them but it is fun trying to figure out where to get all the items. Next week I am taking my stang to the snow to knock out some of the snow item hunts. I am looking forward to it. It will cost me time and gas money to do it but I will do it cause I love this site and the hunts.

We do need some further rules on them though. I know when I take the time to actually get the statue of liberty hunt i want it to be marked real. Almost all of my hunts somebody marks fake and then is nothing fake about it. I think I just have a hater that does not like me and marks them fake, they still get their point and I get a fake entry on almost all of my claims.

I agree with people here. The spirit of the hunt game is now gone. My car is in storage for the winter and I can still bring a catalogue and do all the claims. What's the fun, the challenge and the reward?

J if you set some clear rules I think most people will follow them. See what happened when you clearly said no pictures from inside car. Others started to vote fake.

If this does not work, just list the name of people that vote for or against a claim beside the claim itself. This will work after a few 'hot claims' but surely you will end-up with a world war 3.

Anyway, something must be done. It can not stay this way. If I have an idea or a flash for solution, I will proposed it.

WOW! I haven't taken a Hunt pix in a while.....but when I did do them, I DID THEM! I would normally get another GS buddy (or 2 or 3) and we would all go HUNT together.....it is about the challenge in finding the HUNT!!! If I couldn't find it....I didn't do it! From day one I would open up both pictures & look at them, if they were the same angle or from different days...I would vote it FAKE! If they were soooo far away from CERTAIN items I would vote fake...there are some things you CAN'T get close to sometimes...IE: Air Traffic Control Tower, Water Tower, ETC....this site is suppose to be for fun & I had a REALLY good friend pull his site because of stupid stuff, it is a shame.....I used to live in this site, but the unhealthy competition has driven me away....it is important to follow the rules...it is important to vote for FAKE if you believe it to be fake, without any kind of guidelines you are subject to other's opinions of what they will tolerate as REAL.....once again, YES--for those of us who actually go out and get the Hunts, it is very frustrating to see REAL votes for a picture of a snowshovel....BUT ultimately this is the members site & they will vote anyway they please.......I wish that this FUN site hadn't become so political that we have to suggest J monitor the Hunts....there is no way he can that & what he had to say was very accurate....making some across the board guidelines are a wonderful idea & I am sure someone will complain....but too bad....they will probably be the ones that take the easy road anyway.....this is just my .02 and my opinion, as has been everyone elses opinion on the forums....and there were some great suggestions & comments.....but isn't it a shame it has come to this....creativity is a wonderful thing, laziness, well it's just plan LAZY hehe

This is all out of control. Those of us down here in Galveston/Houston area have lots of fun doing our hunt pix. We go out together and have a great time. What makes things really frustrating for us is that we all look forward to doing the ult hunt pix each month. When we got the ult hunt list this time and it had not one, but 3 snow related items, we felt it wasn't fair. Talk about dedication to getting our hunt pix, we went out the same night the list was posted after working a 12 hour day and took some pictures until 3 AM. For those of you who call us lazy..not even. We are out EVERY weekend with all the local GS members talking about our hunt pix and trying to get everyone down here involved in GS. We agree with blnpony. Hey J -to solve this problem of people getting all bent out of shape- could you have ult hunt items that are universal? I mean, there is no way for us to drive hundreds of miles to go see snow when we all have very busy lives outside of GS. There is lots of fun down here in getting our ult hunt pix and the race to get all 20. You have no idea how hard it is to get a police officer to SIT in your car. We were going to try to go to the hardware store to buy the stupid shovel but they dont even SELL them down here. It is not fair for the groups down in the lower region to have snow related items. We understand that the purpose is to go out and find these things. If these items were within a 100 mile radius,we could get the real items. We think it is really sad that some people have gotten so worked up over some pictures. If you had a problem with them, you can vote them fake..simple as that. This site is for all stang members, and unfortuneately for those of you in snow, there are a lot of us members who don't have snow and can relate. That's how they get voted real. sorry for being creative.

Everyone is making valid points, but let's consider one thing.

On one hand if you allow pictures, then everyone will have every hunt claim. Although, this month I believe the thought was Christmas. Meaning snow. Hence, snow shovels, snowblowers, etc. You get the point.

If you can't get every hunt claim, so what. Who cares. Look at Lxexpress for example. He has 199 and he is north of the border. There are a lot that he can't get without a passport. Ha ha. Seriously, the hunt is for fun. It is not to get every one, every month.

I think the point was that the ones done so far were cool, but, if we weren't careful, people could just pull out the Sears Christmas catelog and get all of the items out of that without ever leaving home.

This whole post is crazy...there are gonna be hunt that someone is not going to get and some everyone can get...such is life. The ppl in the top 10 or 20 on the hunt list have busted their ass to get the ones that they have and deserve the credit that they got. there are 26 claims that I will not be able to get...BFD!!! What we need are MORE claims...there are also claims that the northern ppl will not be able to get. There are claims that I belive are not fair but I am not gonna have a fit over...I will do the ones I can and move on. I want to do all the ultimates this month but I can't...end of story...I will do the best I can and if you thing it passes muster then give it 2 me...belive me I won't be using pics after all this but please consider the creativity that I post but if that is unacceptable so be it. I do think if someone feel that a claim is not valid to put it in the comments...maybe give the poster a option to pull the hunt off and try again to be more creative I agree with almost everything that has been posted in the thread but I also think it is time to drop it. Has anyone noticed what has happened to the face-offs??? The only ppl for the most part is new ppl doing them...2 much drama which is a shame because I enjoyed them alot....I think the comment section on the face-offs was a mistake because of the way it has been used and the comment section on the hunts is a good idea but not used, and it's not used because ppl just want to vote fake and don't want to say why...afraid?? Don't know...for instance the claim I posted of my divorced parents had one fake vote..why?? don't know because the person that did it made no comment..some are voted fake just because of the person that posted it..politics...it's all just stupid in my opinion. I am alsomt positive I will get flamed for this post but guess what, I don't care!! I belive that I have pissed off a really good friend of mine over this thread but I hope our relationship is adult enough to be able to agree to disagree....I wonder how many ppl are going to leave the site because of this????

Maybe we should have a hunt officer. Someone that looks at the claims and pulls them if they aren't up to snuff so to speak. If you disagree with this, be gentle. Don't flame me too hard.

There are a lot of people that just check the real box the whole way down the screen and hit submit.

You are right about the stuff being voted fake even if it's perfect. I have had atleast 1-2 fake claims on almost every hunt claim. I think it's just that there are hater's out there that just want to cause trouble, so don't let it get you down.

As far as the comment about lxexpress. Trust me, this leads nowhere. In a fit of rage I went nuts a little while ago over a face off and regret it now. So, learn from my mistakes. Don't do it.

the whole deal is that they got pissed that we went outside of the box... personallu i do not see the big deal.. the hunts are for fun.. and face offs used to be fun as well.. but people killed that too... and i did not mean to make it personal i know he was just expressing his idea.. but if all they are going to complain about is stupid stuff like that... like me and riddick have already said.. we do them for fun.. who cares.. its fun for us... and its not our lives.. we do have lives out of gs... apparently that does not include everyone... some people need to just look at how they are acting... its a website.. not life or death.. just calm down... like meneep said.. whats done is done... right?

Just for the record, I didn't get pissed. The main purpose for the thread was to point out that I was going to start voting them fake and why. I did vote in favor for the first few, but after it started becoming a regular thing I voted the other way. I try to let people know why I vote it "fake", just to let them know, so they can correct it (if they want). For example, no candy cane in the ult hunt claim, or picture was the same for both angles, etc. I think if you going to vote "fake" you should at least let the person know why, of course like Charlie said there are haters out there. I think the hunt is fine, and if J wants to add "no photo copies" or " no stuffed animals" etc. then that's OK also.

no i know ysoffcr, i had no problem with what u said... at all... i just dont think that this is j's problem.. he has done all he can.. if we keep this up.. well or whoever keeps this up.. there will be so many damn rules, it wont be fun anymore... but i think a better way to solve this.. make universal hunts.. not like jet ski in water, or snow shovel... why dont we just keep the standard idea.. your car with (fill in the blank) like a certain car, or animal, or even a resturant.. but see again... we have no hardys over here.. just like someone may not have a wendys.. we need to keep it universal.. what does anyone think of that idea? .. just an idea....

I agree it's not J's problem. I did send him an email about it, only to bring it to his attention in case it was something he wasn't intending to have submitted, as in the case of the model cars for the movie replica claim. I think we can police ourselves on this one, if you do or don't like it vote that way.

ok...so i've been called an f******* whiner,a f******* bitch,a main whiner,a 2 yr year old and i've been told to get a life by sublime...correct so far????? i think so..and this has gotten personal...i dont know why either...never met him in my life,wouldnt know him if my life depended on it..i was not the one who started the post,all i did was agree with greg about a valid point..what a lot of people thought were bogus hunts.there are a lot of members on the site who dont want to say anything because they dont want to rock the boat....i guess with a site this size there are always going to be conflicting opinions....lets take the face-offs for example...we've lost a great deal of members because of the politics of it..thats why i wont do them....if you cant face the facts that this site is built of the strength of your "friends" and not honest opinions then you shouldnt be here....as far as the hunts and ultimate hunts go well.i dont recall bitching about anything i did express a valid opinion that if the hunts kept going the way they were...it would get just as ugly as the faceoffs did,so because i did so im "a f****** whiner"???...maybe i was speaking on behalf of the people who dont want to be heard...i got an email today saying "we got all those hunts without use of pictures" and yes i live in canada...yes i've spent some time doing them..just because i've done more than anyone else "i should get a life"???i like cruising in my car..i have a good time doing it too...met some really terrific people doing them too..i appreciate what charlie about not ranting over this,i do have other things to think about,my wife, my job,my home,my family etc...personally im not the one freaking out..this would have gotten continually worse....until lets say 10 members had enough and said "this sucks lets go elsewhere...and then 5 more members said those guys were my buddies and they are hanging out at whatever.com it probably wouldnt take long to lose 50-100 member over this in no time...for the most part i think we all share one common interest... mustangs!!!!! i'm sure it wouldnt take a whole lot to rationally discuss some future rules to set up guidelines so everyone is happy...i understand it doesnt snow in texas.....on the other hand there are at least 20 hunts that i know i cant get....i didnt call j on the phone or send an email saying i think you should change them because i dont have 20 of that list and there is no way in hell we will ever have a universal list....i never knew a "chick a fil" even existed...as i'm sure 1500 other people on here didnt either..thats what makes it a scavenger hunt or hunt for short...it about the thrill of knowing where something is that someone else doesnt...i think j does a great job of picking hunts every month...i dont ever think its been lobsided where he favours the south over the north or the east against the west...i think that would be a pretty tough decision to try and keep everyone happy.all the members have the option to suggest their own hunts...at least this is out in the open and maybe without any futher bullshit we could carry on like adults..and get this site back to being the best stang site on the net

i dont know if everything is solved.....did we accomplish anything yet??? i think we need some guidelines at the very least....i think the no pics or photocopies is a great idea.and maybe when items are posted it could say "real" or "full size replica" or whatever, like it does with "the statue of liberty"etc.that way there are no "invalid"claims..it would save a lot of hassles

Seriously, I feel using a toy is thinking outside the box unless otherwise stated. Using photocopy is reaching much to far outside the box.

I'd like to find a snow-blower in an adjacent state! Does anyone on GS know where there might be a snow-blower in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas or Southeastern Colorado (trying to keep the trip down to a couple hundred miles)? If you know of one, give me a phone number and address so I can verify someone there before I launch off on the "road-trip"! LOL

with an effort like that...i'd almost be inclined to give it to you anyways...if you want to make a road trip to ontario i would personally guarantee you would find one here...hell,i'd even let you use mine...

Well, I've exhausted contacts in this State (TX), with no luck finding a real Snow-Blower (lots of weird looks however)! Am contacting some GS Members in States North of here (Oklahoma primarily) to see if anyone up there has seen one! I've got 10 days to get a picture of one, but if not then I just don't get the full 20 pictures (I've never seen a model of a snow-blower, so I can't even "push the envelope") LOL
