This may seem long winded but if I don't try an cover all the basis and be objective of myself first than you will maybe understand where I'm comming from.
I have a issue that I'm confused about. I guess I will never understand how people think because judging from the results of the face-offs there is no way people take the time to really vote there beliefs but go with the buddy system. Tell me I'm wrong. I refuse to believe that people have that little morals to go with pressure rather than what's right. I have lost to cars that are nearly new or unmodified, and not just my faceoffs but several others. If the car is older and it has had a paint job which doesn't look all that bad but flip it over and it's a horror show or the engine bay is a train wreck....please give me a break huh people. I can't believe that people have little respect for what is truly a awesome car from stem to stern and go with bullshit popularity crap give it up will ya.
Oh ya, I'm not venting to get attention because I don't need it and I know if ya want to bring it on in a real show the majority wouldn't fair so well. I however have seen this go on and seen it get progressively more obvious, and ya know what I think "it's bullshit". I have held my tongue about this crap for long enough and that's it I have had it. I trully expect someone to come back with less than inteligent answer to get attention only to look like a puts but ya know what there is one in every crowd.
I'm not stating this because I'm a poor sport, that couldn't be farther from the truth. I just believe that my losses aren't because I took on a car that has 60 grand invested and then I expected to win so I don't want to hear it but rather a bullshit popularity contest that is hideous.Think about what I'm saying and you will realize that I'm not that far off. I also understand that this is all in fun and I posted a invitation for faceoffs but come on people think about it, these people came after me and with what a $100,000 car aaahhh......no! so tell me I'm over reacting ya right. I don't think I'm that far off am I! If your going to vote on a face off do it for the right reason..."one car is better than the other" "because it is" from A to Z not because you don't like the color or you wouldn't own a car of that color or do a mod that way or better yet "it's your buddies car". I also noticed that when cars are in face offs the amount of votes don't match the amount of hits on a person's web site. This is due to 2 reasons (not because you know the car already) but because of lazyness or the other reason "THE BUDDY SYSTEM" knock the fn shit off and be fair about it. I can bet that the top twenty cars wouldn't be in the order they're in now!!!!!
I do understand one thing though, this post and a hundred others just like it wont change a dam thing on how the votes go but ya know what I speak the truth and most of you will agree even though you won't post it!
I have said my peace and it's over. I will go back to keeping to myself as always because I don't like to make waves but ya know what I don't give a shit if this starts a tidle wave.

I will agree that the buddy systen has a lot to do with face-offs...I also belive that I don't win or lose because someone who knows me votes for me...I don't have that many friends!! I belive that most ppl use the avatar to decide who to vote for in a face-off...If I know the cars well then I choose the one that I like best. I vote on appearance, I don't vote on go mods because I don't know what most of then are :beerchug: losing is painful... but this is just a game, I hope you feel better after this post and you do have an awesome stang :beerchug: :beerchug:

damn you was asking for face-offs i did not think i was going to win , i did not ask for votes(buddy system)fuck the system i cant help who they vote for, i will ask J to take the face-off win and the points back if he can , i dont need the drama this is why i try to stay out of face-off

I knew that this was the response I was going to get and your missing the point. I wrote specificaly on the fact I wanted the face offs remember? and no J doesn't need to take the points back. This is directed to the voters not the owners of the cars in face offs! Maybe this sounds better or makes people that I have faced off with and the others as well feel less offended by this post. I tried to word it the right way the first time so my point didn't get missunderstood.
I however don't make any apoligies for my feelings on this and I don't think that beeing politicaly correct is the way to gain a friendship with someone on here!

joey... the trend i notice also is that a lot of folks simply don't like the fox bodies. more often than not a 94 or newer will win over a fox... no matter how much has been done to the fox and how little has been done to the newer model.
over on stangette someone asked in a thread to state your least favorite and most favorite body style... foxes got almost all of the negative votes... even more than the mustang II. go figure.
its crap anyway. who cares, right? you know your car and you know it's the bomb.

I agree with Wendy. If you have notch back, which the verts have as well they have the uglies ass end of any Mustang Ford has made, except for the Mutang II's maybe. If you don't put a nice spoiler on the car that ass end kinda sits there and catches the eye. As you love the mustangs you kinda fall for the car.
Mods... to many folks that doesn't matter. They don't care if you redone an interior or put a kick ass custom stereo package together. It's the quick look that gets the vote. It's hard to beat the beautiful lines of the new 05 Mustangs. I think the SN95's are better looking than the fox bodies, but I am partial to them. They are cheaper for parts and they're easier to give the appearance of looking unique. You can't do that with the 05 yet.
GotStang.com is just about having fun and being around people that have the same interests as everyone else does. In a perfect world the 05's should only be competing against each other as they are bought, and not created by their owners. But what fun is that. 1Nasty96 is a hot car too. That paint job and chrome rims kicks ass.
If you remember though, in the Bumblebee Tournament the two cars in the finals were fox bodies. They are great cars, but it's hard to compete with the lines of an SN95 or 05 Mustang equipped with that great paint job and spectacular wheels. People have to vote what they feel and ain't nuttin' wrong with that.

Obviously there are a lot of bullshit factors that play a role in face offs and I don't much care for them. I believe the the title best over all car is good one to use because that's what should be voted on. If you title a face off something else vote on what it is titled. I had one in relation to the scoops on my car and I highly doubt that was looked at. I F*ing hate this little buddy system and would like to see an end to it. I really hate reading comments on face offs where someone has put who they voted for or go so and so. It doesn't show who votes for who for a reason. Its supposed to be anonymous. I know its supposed to be all in fun but a lot of people are taking the fun out of it by bringing the friendship thing into it and making stupid comments. Also I don't face off against cars you know are a sure win. Don't pick on cars with a lot less done to them than yours. Don't take a Saleen and face off against a stock V6 it's pointless. If you're going to be a top car on the site you'll get there from votes and other things not due to picking on a car that isn't as modified. I could continue my beef with the face off issue but I'll end it now because people are going to do what they want to do and there's really nothing that can be done about it. And yes everyone that has made a comment on this post does have a badass car and I have much respect for what you have all done with your cars.

OK.
I have noticed a weird pattern.
A really nice Stang starts doing F/Os. Since they are new and have a really cool car, they win the majority of the first 15 or so F/Os.
It seems that once they get to around 15, they will start losing against cars that you would think that they would win against.
I know this sound weird, but check it out! There are only a couple of cars that get beyond the 15-0 mark, and even fewer that can stay there!
Hmm... Kinda makes you think, I hope!
Don't ask for change in the way it's done, I like it! :thumpupn:

wow.....and people wonder why i dont do face offs....everybodys got good and bad points.i dont believe that fox bodies dont show well, and that people dont like them.i get a lot of comments from newer cars saying that they are suckers for fox bodies, love the notches,etc.blown93feature has one of the sweetest rides on this site...not just because its yellow(lol)my feeling is (please dont take this the wrong way)if you cant accept the loss, dont enter the face off.maybe we should have it changed so that you have the choice whether or not you want to be in the face off or not.i'll be the first one to admit, losing sucks,2nd place is for the first loser, the thought of losing to someone with a "lesser car"would certainly sting, but in the "real world of car shows,i think the best really do win.just my .02 cents hope i didnt offend anybody too badly, sorry if i did.

I'm going to have to agree that there is a buddy system with the face-offs and anything else that requires a vote. Personally I try to stay out of face-offs, unless I get the wild urge to do one, and I've lost to at least one very nice Stang (a mystic Cobra). I have also lost to at least one or two that I didn't think were that much better. Like its been stated before, people don't look at the list of mods, some couldn't tell you what most of them did, they are looking at the outside. In my case the only things done to the appearence are smoked head and fog lights, lx tail lights and some inserts, but I have about 6K (and still going up) in the engine, tranny, and suspension.
The one thing that really bugs me is people challenging a higher ranked one that is either not on the site or they don't have a Mustang at all (Contour or Camaro for example) just to get a win and some points.
One more thing and I'm done, I totally disagree with the comment about people not liking the fox body. First off the poll was taken on a site that is targeted towards a select audience, so that might be the opinion on that site. Second off, the fox body was sold from 1979-1993 (15 years), it couldn't be that unpopular.

heres an idea.........what dont we post who votes for who...i think you would see an entirely different outcome...i think people would start voting the way they should instead of being influenced by the buddy system..i think you would see a lot less face offs going on,for fear of embarassment too.scott

I have the solution to my own personal prob with the face off crap, I don't want to be in any anymore!!! and to settle the debate about the rest of the crew who still wants to be involved in the face off's, I vote to take the point system shit right out of the equation and put it stricky for fun.
I don't believe that you can leave the honsety part to J to solve because it isn't fair to him. This has to come from you people.

This is what it is coming down to. You can't set any rules to the votings as it has to be by personal choice, and it isn't J's job to police our voting to decide if the win legit or not.
If everyone who plays takes it for fun and has a good time with it, that's great. The ones who take it personal it's best if it is something you stay away from. Favorites, internet buddies and first impressions will always be the deciding factor. It only human nature. I have seen it at car shows as well.
I don't care one way or another. You can only get so much from a photograph. You can fix it up, highlight it, add lighting effects, move the car to another setting, and more but sometimes it just doesn't do justice to the cars real apearance.
Hell, some folks have a hard time folling the rules & instructions in the HUNT. What are you to do. It's just for fun.

It's just like participant/spectator judging at shows. friends vote for friends. Human nature will NEVER change this - bottom line. So if you hope people will have the mantality and maturity to vote for which car they honestly believe deserves the win, you are wrong in SOME of the cases.
Sure their are lots of us that honestly vote properly ...... but it may not outweigh the reverse of that. Depending of course on how big the buddy's list both are.
I have not done 1 face off as a result of the face-off wins I have seen. I have entered the tournaments, but those are different.
