Thought that since there are so many new members, we should re-survey what the first car you ever owned was..
Saw alot of "youngsters" with late '90s cars and had to laugh at some of the posts..
Mine was, (and don't die laughing), a 1949 3/4 ton chevy flatbed pickup with a 216 straight 6 w/235 heads and the starter was on the floor! You had to put your heel on the gas pedal, pull the choke out on the dash, and use your toe to push the starter! The steering wheel was about three feet wide and it took two men and 1 boy to get it turned! The shifter was at least 3 1/2 feet long and it had a "granny" gear for 1st that would get you about 10 feet out of the hole before you had to shift. Ha, I sent a rod through the crankcase trying to haul ass but it had just driven from New Mexico to Arizona on one fillup in between(450) miles! By the way, I got my drivers license when I was 14 years old!!

Hmm, I had 2 first vehicles... I was given a 67 GTO(trashed) and a 69 ford 100 4x4. The Goat was a mess, it had been sitting behind a barn for 5 years, and someone had jacked up the ass with truck leaf springs and the mice had built a little village inside. Very liberal use of bondo to cover dents because they couldn't keep it between the ditches. I really never got anywhere with it, tho. I joined the Navy and my uncle decided to steal all the parts he could... Including the 326 big block motor. He's only alive right now because he's my grandpa's favorite son, LOL.
The Truck was my favorite tho. It was a first responder(firefighter) workhorse, then a tree puller/ cow chaser. Oh, I forgot to mention it was a stock class truck pulling habitual third placer... or second loser? lol. We dropped a 429 in there from a torino. On pulling days it ran on methanol, and school days it ran on leaded gas. Ugly, slow, thirsty, and hard as hell to drive on pavement... But I sure do miss it!

OK, let me preface this before I answer.
I grew up in SoCal on a 300 acre horse ranch (that should let you know it was a long time ago!) so my first car was a truck! When I was 12, my Dad let me spend my paper route money on a '64 Chevy pick up that was on it's way to the wrecker. That summer, we rebuilt the truck and it still runs to this day!
My Dad still pulls horse trailers with it! It spent 5 years in western Illinois outside in the weather, too! Good old truck!
I actually owned two cars in High School: A 1971 SS 454 Chevelle and a 1967 Opel Kadett. On payday (I worked in a doughnut shop!), I would fill the gas on both cars and drive the Chevelle for one day, then park it until my next check! It went 11.70s at OCIR in 1981! The Kadett had a 1.1 liter engine and would make it to school and work the rest of the week!
Since then, I have owned over 200 cars (projects, fixers, investments, etc) including more than 30 Mustangs! :thumpupn:

First 'Stang - in 1974 was a 1967 GT w/390, 4 speed Top Loader. Swapped 390 for a 302 bored .060 over w/ Offenhauser intake, 850 Thermo Quad, 12.7:1 compression.
Second 'Stang in 1977 was a 1972 hardtop, stock.
I won't admit what some of the "other" cars have been........ including my LAST car before the '04 GT.

I won't even mention the 79 bright lime green Granada my dad wanted me to drive. My actual first car was the 67 Galaxie 500. Big, fat, slow take-off, hard to park with a 289. She died when my brother rebuilt her motor using too much silicone. Just recently sold her... I miss her...

1973 Ford Gran Torino Sport. Gold on Gold, highback bucket seats with a 351 Windsor, a huge Holley 650 double pumper carb, dual exhaust (w/glasspacks), posi-traction rear end, Keystone Classic Rims and monster wide tires. Lots of power and it weighed about one million pounds. What a great ride!

All time favorite car... 1970 GTO Convertible. White w/black top, black interior and 400 Pontiac engine. Saw it on used car lot as a 15 year old and never forgot the car. It was awesome.
