Since I didn't see any articles/tutorials/write-ups on how to do a rear seat removal on a 99-04 Mustang, on this site, I thought I'd write one up. Enjoy...

You will need:

Flat-head Screwdriver
15mm Open-Ended Wrench
10mm Socket
8mm Socket
1/4" Drive Rachet
A little bit of patience

Step 1:

Find your back seat...

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(1).JPG

Ahhh, there it is. (yes, the indentations on my seat backs are front my seat belts...I always have the seat backs down...to cool the amplifiers)

Step 2:

Locate the tabs at the top of the floor board and below the seat lip that hold the seat down... (see green arrows)

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(2).JPG

Step 3:

After you find the tabs, push them in with a screwdriver and lift the rear seat up... (see green arrows)

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(4).JPG

Step 4:

Remove the tabs. You will need an 8mm socket and a 1/4" drive socket to do this... (this will alow your rear seat delete kit to fit flush with the carpet when it's installed)

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(5).JPG

Step 5:

Remove seat backs. You will need a 15mm Open-Ended wrench to do this... (in order to access these bolts **outside only** you will need to pull the leather away at the far bottom left **passenger's side** seat and far bottom right **driver's side** seat.)

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(6).JPG

Step 6:

Remove the entire seat brace... (see neon green box)

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(7).JPG

1-10mm bolt on each side...

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(8).JPG

and 3-8mm bolts along the top

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(9).JPG

And then 2 more 8mm bolts along the top, under the large hear rest you just removed (yes, I forgot the green arrows...but if you really need them to understand this, have your smart cousin do this whole thing for you! )

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(10).JPG

Pull the whole brace out...

http://www.gotstang.com/0805/Crazzy_Al/Seat%20Delete%20(11).JPG

**I had all of my stereo and nitrous line and wires run into my truck and they went OVER the brace...well...when you take that brace off, it's one big piece, and it's welded together. So you can do 1 of a few things...

1.) Break the brace and slide the wires out
2.) Cut the brace and slide the wires out
3.) Undo most/all of the wiring, take the brace out, and wire the stuff back up (I did this one)
4.) Say "PISS ON THIS" and put everything back together.

Here's what it will look like after the brace and seats are off... (minus the metric ass load of A/V equipment)

Nice tech, but removing the seats from the brace is an unecessary step. It all comes out as an assembly.

Looking to sell the rear seat?

not when your power cable goes over it.

Not a problem.

Anyways, the rear wall of the rear seat delete kit is almost done. Just needs a little fine tuning and she'll be good to go. Tomorrow we'll cut and carpet the floor of the kit, put on the piano hinge, and add all the little fine touches that will set it off. Once the whole kit is done and installed, I'll be desiding on some kind of text or graphic design to really set the kit off. We'll see. Anyways, here's how the rear seat currently looks...

Very nice write up - extremely thorough ...... good job. Looking forward to the finish ...

Decided to add something for those with a LOUD car ..... Now would be a good time to sound-deaden this area ....

I just so happen to have pictures ..... I'll add them here. This stuff is called Dynomat or Brownbread.

It goes on very easily ....Cut with scissors and roll.

I went with a custom rear seat .... It's hinged so I can store stuff underneath.

Not meaning to hi-jack this thread - just showing an "Expensive" option. I had the stich pattern match the front Cobra Daytonnas. That won me BIG points at FFW Englishtown this year.

Here is the Brownbread >>>>

And the rear seat installed >>>>

This is the kind of stuff we need on GotStang.com. We need an area created to house the how to tutorals. That would be cool. Exellent Job!

Looks Great. What materials did you use? Or did you buy an already made rear seat delete and just modify it?

Material list isn't too crazy. As far as your latter question, please read the thread.
