I'm getting an 87 donor car for my 5.0 swap (this winter).
Before getting the donor car, I'm having the T5 taken out, and getting an AOD, torque converter, and tranny crossmember.

The guy selling me the car is taking out the AOD from a 91 next week...I want to create a list of items that I need with the AOD. Can you all tell me what's nessasary (or not nessasary) in the list below? (note; my 2.3 is currently an A4LD)

1. TRANSMISSION MOUNT CROSSMEMBER**I'm already getting this

2. BLOCK PLATE* ???

3. SHIFTER* Yes, the A4LD shifter is different; so I'm asking for this.

4. TV LINKAGE* ???

5. THROTTLE VALVE CABLE (CONNECTS LINKAGE TO TRANNY)* ???

6. DIPSTICK TUBE & DIPSTICK* I'm asking for this.

7. AOD CABLE* ??? Is this the same as the Throttle Valve Cable?

8. MECHANICAL INTERLOCKS (I don't even know what this is...)

9. YOKE ?? Will I need a different driveshaft? Should I get the one from that automatic??? with the Yoke?

10. ELECTRICAL CONNECTOR-4 PIN (MY 2.3 SHOULD HAVE THE SAME WIRING??)

11. HYDRAULIC FITTINGS (I don't know much about this)

12. 164 TEETH FLEXPLATE (I'm going to buy a new one)

13. TORQUE CONVERTER (yes, I'm already getting this)

Appreciate any help.
thx! :nailbite:

Nicole,
1. the "tv" cable is the cable that attatches to the throttle body it tells the trans when to shift. This cable is very important part of the trans valve body pressure settings. The best thing to do is to put the trans in and once complete have the car trailered to a trans shop and have the pressures set by a prof, one click either way on the throttle body adj and you could fry the trans in a mile.
2. The yoke is the piece of trans that comes out of the tail shaft that attatches to the drive shaft, see if the person that's giving you the trans will give you the yoke and driveshaft. If they don't see if they will through in the yoke, I have a drive shaft you can have.
3. The four pin you have should be fine, it runs reverse lights, nutral safety switch and foot brake to engange trans out of park safety.
4.The shifters are the same in both cars, your current shifter linkage should be long enough, you don't need hydrolic fittings ?? but you will need the two trans lines to cool the trans through the radiator, if I'm not mistaken there is no trans cooler lines for your current trans.
I have to go to work, if you get a chance give me a call or if you need any other help send me a e-mail.
Joey.

There are no mechanical interlocks for that nore have I ever heard of that.

Dont forget that you WILL need to get a PCM for an automatic because the 5 speed computers do not sence the neutral position
