I've seen it before. I actually thought about buying the equipment to do that, but the $5K sticker for the machine alone scared me off. :nailbite:

its chrome paint...therefore no polishing is involved. i'd be more worried about blinding people

I'm pretty sure that the laws governing chrome on the exterior of cars in the U.S. still apply. Therefore that painting system = highly illegal.

theres a law governing chrome? there were also pics of a chrome audi rs6...i wanna see one in person. that M3 is badass

Ya, it's illegal to have any large flat surface chromed or polished that can in any way reflect large ammounts of sunlight or headlights toward another car. This means hoods, fenders and sides above the lowest edge, rear or front cowls(of course bumpers are excluded because of the hight), etc.

Looks like its a show car. Cant imagine the guy/Gal that owns it would take it on the street...It could get rock chipped.

From what I saw of the process, it wouldn't be any worse to repair than for regular paint. because that is basically what it is. It's a base and a top coat that reacts to the base and becomes reflective like that. You would just have to resprey the area.
