Just bought a 3000 AMD Sempron E-machine from Best Buy for 299 with monitor.
So I have to backup my data etc, and the mother board in the E-machine is going to replace my 2200 and ECS KS75a board,
Then the 80 GB harddrive is going to replace the 20GB to compliment my 160 GB data disk.
My ECS Board is going into the E-machine and will be the wifes work/home computer. Then the "Extra Components" are going to finish 3 other computers.
I have a 1000 Duron I bought today for 50 bucks, with a 50 gb drive that the drive is going to my sons computer, with the 256kb extra ram to boost his up a bit, then it will become a W2K3 Domain Controller, Then a P2, with crap will become a I DON'T KNOW, and then another computer I guess for testing.
So Let's see, I'll be standing up 4 WXP Pro systems from scratch, with one recovery, a W2K3 Domaon Controller, A Domain, Firewalls, And doing all the GPOs to boot.
This should be some fun. I wonder If I'm going to have enough time to wash the car too!!
Take Care all.

I'm guessing you just lost a whole weekend!
I'm going to fish a Bass tournament sponsored by my work tomorrow with my old man as my boat partner. That's about 180 out from what you've got lined up :) Best of luck, I hope it all goes perfectly smooth so that you can still enjoy Sunday ;)

Right now hit a couple snags. I'm online now with the wifes new computer using a older harddrive.
The E-Machine is a shell. Nothing in it no more. The MOBO is in my case, Along with the DVD/CDR/W. It Boots up OK and runs fine, Just that I have to Format the 80Gb Harddrive and reinstall XP Pro. It Came with Home, and didn't regognize the 160GB Data Drive, So I am Burning about 120 GB of Data using a new DVD Burner!!
The Domain controller install (W2K3) went great.
For those of you who dont' know, I am building from scartch, 6 computers. Using parts gathered from parts left over, a E-machine bought for 299.00, A Duron 950, for 50.00, etc.
Just a Hodge Podge of parts to make:
1. 2.2 MHZ with 512mb Ram, 220Gb Hard Drive Space.
2. 1.8 Mhx with 768Mb Ram, 140Gb Hard Drive Space.
3. 950 MHz with 512Mb Ram, with 160Gb Space
4. 700 MHZ with 512Mb Ram with 60Gb Space (Domain Controller)
5. 400Mhz with 256Mb Ram with 60GB Space (Server, No Ideas Yet)
Total spent so far, 500.00!!

This FREAKING ROCKS. The E-machine mentioned earlier, I was able to use the chassis for an older Socket 7 board. I had enought PC100 SDRAM to build another server!!
With one of the 4Gb Drives I have left, hmm, Maybe a 2K3 OS with some datadrives?
Hit a snag last night though. XP Will not recognize my drive(160Gb) of storage. So I had to take the drive that was to be wipped and reinstalled and did a cripple install and then after the system was installed, I added the hard drive and it recognized the data.
The wife had to go and buy me a DVD Burner, lame excuse from me because I could have transfered the data another means, but now I have DVD back-up capability!!!
Now I am going to have a 6th machine running, problem is that my switch only has 4 ports.

Why not go wireless? My wireless linksys system has four cat6 ports in the back, but you can connect more than ten computers to it going wireless. The paperwork says up to 50 computers but I would have to see that to believe it. I am assuming by Switch connection you were talking about to a four port hub and the internet. If I am in error, just disregard my lame reply.

Not a Lame reply what-so-ever. Actually, I was thinking of the same thing, but, I don't want a SAP. I don't want Piggy Backing from my SDP. Yes a 802.11g might do this for me but I can't afford it right now. BUT, I do need something with this network.
I also need to think about the traffic too!
With IPV6 Replacing IPV4 etc, etc, etc. Thanks for the suggestion, and take care. Time for another format, OS load, and of course, a beer. :beerchug:

Cost is cheap. The base four port hub with wireless routes is about $70.oo you can get a wireless USB card for about the same price. Then just move the USB card to whichever computer your on. Buy more USB cards as you need them if your on more than one system at a time. Price is pretty cheap compared with putting a wireless card in each computer.

Well I am almost done. What really slowed the process down was the lack of support at www.emachines.com. Ivan (who is probably a flunky) didn't provide any help in regards to drivers for the motherboard. The e-mails were for the most part canned and the support minimal. He even said they do not provide drivers because of piracy. Hello MCFLY, the e-mail is comming from a government mail server!!
I finally found the drivers for the board, Nvidia driver for a northbridge, etc.
So I ended the fantastic support by saying that We will not be buying anymore Gateway computers through the base anytime soon!
Final Tally is 4 workstations, 2 2003 servers! Right now tidying up the workstation.

Look into the new Pre-N router with generic B/G cards. I run on them at home and work now. But I used to work for the company that designed them. Just about wireless CAT5 speeds. It really is that big of a jump forward in technology and the routers that they are sold under have 4 port switches in them as well, And a seperate Wan port.

I'm going to look into wirelessRight now doing touch ups and some driver installs, etc.
I had to take the wifes new computer apart because the case was tacky and scraped.
So I am repainting it with a spray can kit of Mystiichrome paint. Her computer will change colors and the light changes.

It's a three step process. First spraying the black, then the mystichrome painted in 4 layers, then the clear coat.
The paint goes from a black to Dark Blue to Purple then pink. It looks great
