Tire Help

Soon enough i am going to get the 17x10.5 deep dish bullitts. But i dont know what size tire to get... everyone tells me the 315's or whatever, but i need something that will last, so would the 285/40-17 be good? the bf goodrich g force with the 400 AA? or would the 275/40-17 be better? let me know... thanks everyone...

275/40 is too small, they'd better fit the 9" rim. How about some 305's? The whole point of the 10.5" rim is to get some meats out back. I don't understand the wear concern, your driving style will dictate how long they last (all treadwear ratings the same). I'm resigned to buying new tires every year and a half or so.

i cant find any for 305's, only 315's but they all are soft tires... with a treadwear of 100AA... so thats not really that great

Decision time I guess. I think a 295 or even a 285 would suffice, but you'll need to go with something like a 245 or 255 up front to make the fit appear to match. Otherwise you're gonna end up with some good fitting tires up front and tires that look stretched to fit on the rear. A 255/45 fits the 17x9 perfectly, a 275/40 looks fine too but gives up a bit in the performance due to sidewall flex. Then again, some OEMs chose the 275/40 for a 17x9. I ran a 285/40 on a 17x9 for awile, it would probably be the minimum that I would try to strecth onto a 10.5" rim.

A final option would be to go ahead with the 315's and low treadware rating and just keep that in mind everytime you feel like mashing the loud pedal. Just go with the least expensive ones available with the understanding you'll be buying new rears 4 times to 1 over the fronts.

for tires.com will u help me find a good tire that is 315's at a reasonable tread rate? i am getting the rears first then i will buy new tires for the front, prob like u said, the 275/40

If you are keeping the stock front wheels, 17x8 right?, I'd stay with the factory sized front tires. I'd expect the rears to set you back about 200 bones each. Look for something inexpensive like a Khumo. I saw a bunch at tirerack.com.
