My dad builds them to meet your needs (gameing, school, work) whatever your need see I use my comeputer for Games mostly and he puts it together from scratch and backs up his work......He lives in FL also in Orlando if you would like I can give you his business number and give him a call and see if he can do anything for you......When you by a prebuilt one you dont get everything you want trust me I have two friends that just bought DELL and they hate them because you cant upgrade graphics cards and all that stuff because its all built into the motherboard and they are kicking themselves that they didnt have my father build them....His business in INC and everything so he is ligit I promise....just let me know if you want me to let him know I believe he can build a bass ass computer for about $900-$1100 so save yourself some money if you have $2000 and put it into the stang :D

Newegg is definitely the route to go for buying the stuff. I would run the AMD 64bit processor, but it doesn't need to be the highest speed. I'm running a 2.1 ghz AMD processor with 1 gig of DDR 2700 Ram. I also have a Geforce 5400 graphics card. The Ram is your biggest thing. Also for speed change your hard drives to Serial ATA (make sure your new mo-bo is compatable).

That was going to be my original reply yesterday when I first saw this thread. Why not buy a modern refurbished POS from someone like TigerDirect for $400 and spend the rest on the car? You will grow tired of playing computer games before too long...I think I was 30 when it happened to me.

for all you that said put the $$ in the car... lemee explain.

my mom went up in my room and was like i hate you're f'ing cpu cause it's so loud ( i have my processor fan running at 6,000 RPM cause my cpu gets HOT... i think all the contact gel wore off when i installed the new heatsink and fan.)

well, in the process of installing a new fan, i broke 2 of the 3 plastic tabs on one side of the motherboard (where the heatsink mounts over the processor)... so, if i take the heatsink off to apply more gel, i will possible never get the heatsink back on (if i break that last plastic tab)

so, i have to run my cpu fans at full speed just to keep the cpu from overheating.

so, my mom told my dad to throw away my cpu and get me a new one...

so, my dad said go on the net and price yourself up a new cpu... get whatever you want but try to keep it under 2,000

so... with that said.. im about to place the order for what i listed.

I run the Volcano 9 with 8 other fans running. It's noisy, but no where near loud.
