well here is a tip for any one to find out there time in a 1/4 mile and speed if you cant get to the track or if you might be embarassed if you have a slow mustang to show up and be in the 18's do some arrangement, find a not busy road thats a q/mile talk to the town about setting up a little get to gether tell them what your gonna do with the road a dead road would be better go to th police department tell them whats up and arrange a medical units to be there in case somethin goes wrong get approval from nieghbors to do it have the road closed for about 2 hours no more.invite people to go hang out try to get the time on there car find out how fast your car is in a 1/4 mile have a stop watch to time and a helmet when drivin yo can problably get a radar kart for the side of the road to tell how fast the car went from the local police.so have fun and good luck with this.

i hope ur kidding. i would luv to see a community that approves that. THAT'S WHAT THE TRACK IS FOR.
if ur too ashamed to show up at the track then people on the streets will laugh as well, even if it's u crusing around.

Not all Geo's suck as bad... Well okay, they all suck, but my beater is a Geo Prizm GSi which is the Corolla GT-S in 4 door version (the Corolla GT-S only came in 2 doors in the US). It has the high-compression version of the 4A-GE motor rated at 130 HP. That may not seem like a lot, but when you take into account this car was a 1990, it's a 1.6L motor that revs to 7800 RPM, and the car only weighs 2300 lbs, it's not all that bad.
Oh yea, and the car comes with a stiffer suspension and strut tower brace from the factory believe it or not.
As embarassing as it may be to have a 1/4 mi time of 16+ seconds flash after a run, I still wouldn't go through all that trouble to arrange an "organized street racing event" with the local authorities. I much rather find a long enough private road and buy a GTech Pro or something... Or better yet, I'd just take the laughs like a man and go to the track.
Did I mention I carry "My other car is a GEO" plate frames on my S4?

I don't see anyone ever approving anything like that.A normal two lane road is considerably more narrow than the track is, so less room for error. That's not even mentioning the fact that you would be running on a less than optimal surface. With that amount of liability, it would be asinine to even consider it.Besides the safety factors, the time would be a guess at best with human error factored in.I know that I cannot see the instant a car takes off from a 1/4 mile away.I agree with machgt, take it to the track, that's what it's there for. There is always someone faster, so go out, do your best, and most importantly, have fun.
