I told you I love Bull Terriers. It was my second choice behind our bulldog. They have such a unique look, but man, can they be expensive :) Here's a picture of Tucker. This was his first swim at a river near our house. Not bad for our 9-month old puppy.

You aren't kidding about expensive... but bull dogs aren't cheap either... My uncle has an 11 month old bull dog... I know what he paid for Jake... $$ouch$$

I didn't know bull dogs liked to go swimming! Too funny!

True, with the money I paid for Tucker, I could have very easily had a nice downpayment on a supercharger. But my puppy comes first. And I'll never regret that. He is our first baby.

Well, he doesn't really "like" to swim. He tried it out a couple of times, but prefers the shore a lot better. My wife insisted we pick up a baby pool for him on hot days in our backyard. I was against it. Not surprising to me, the baby pool is now just a gigantic water bowl. :)

Well, unfortunately, we took Daisy to the vet to have her checked out and our vet told us that she has a congenital heart defect which is causing a heart murmur. He recommended that we get a cardiac ultrasound done to determine where the defect is and then take her to a specialist to have a cardiac dopplar done to determine the extent of the defect.

The vet said that the defect could be harmless and never need treatment or it could be more sinister and require heart surgery.

Considering our past with dogs... We lost two Shar Peis in one year to Shar Pei Fever - both dogs were younger than 5 years old. Our third Shar Pei was diagnosed with the same disease last year and we are facing losing him soon. We lost a Yorkshire Terrier during the same year to liver shunts - he was only 15 months old.

My husband and I decided that we couldn't take the heartache of losing another dog prematurely, so we took Daisy back to the breeder.

It just so happens that one sibling from the 7 pup litter was still available. So we took him home with us. His name is Stewie!

Sorry to hear about the puppy problems. I don't know if I could take back Tucker. Speaking of problems, he recently fell off the bed where he likes to play. When I came in from my office to investigate, he was whimpering. He got up but was limping, but stopped limping within a few minutes. Over the next week, whenever he wanted to get rough and play he did so at the expense of "re-injuring" his little back leg. So finally, my wife and I decided to take him in to have it checked out. I didn't think it would be anything. I was surprised when the doctor told us he had severely torn his cruciate ligament and would require surgery. Apparently it is also a very expensive operation. Although, money is not the issue, just the well being of our baby. Anyways, we have a pre-surgery consultation next Wednesday and then the surgery. It can be really bad for him, because a lot of dogs develop arthritis afterwards. We're praying for the best and expecting the best.
