hey guys i'm just getting into the whole mustang thing and upgrading my car, and i would just like to get some help from you guys, who have totally sick cars. Ok i'm looking to start off with an exhaust system but i really don't know anything about which one performs the best, and sounds mean. So if you guys/gals could give me your opinion i would greatly appreciate it, thanks

What are you looking for? Loud? Quiet? Drone?

IMO, the best setup is longtube headers, choice of offroad or catalytic x-pipe, and a bassani catback. I also like MAC catbacks, and a MAC Prochamber sounds pretty wicked too.

I currently run LT's, offroad X, and Bassani catback. There is zero drone, the car is stock quiet inside the cabin at idle at cruise, but pretty loud outside the car and really loud when I get on it. It's the best setup I've had to date, and I've had quite a few.

def. go with longtubes, an off-road (if you don't have to worry with emmisions) h or x pipe, topped off with sum two chamber flows. other mufflers to go with could be sum slp's. don't think i've heard them on a setup that i know of but from numerous vids they sound pretty good. ur really just need to hear someone with a setup that u like and go from there. vids never do a car justice

I have MAC equal length headers, a high flow catted H-Pipe, and a Dynomax catback. I love the sound. Pretty deep at idle and loud when you get on it. :drool2:

I think the Mac systems are the best sounding but that is my opinion. If you want some sound clips go to www.mustangexhaust.com, you have to subscribe to listen the clips though.

And so much drone that you'll want to kill yourself after an hour on the highway?!

yah that too, lol i want a mean exhaust but not something that is going to drive me crazy if i go for a long drive, lol. I have been listening to the sound clips, and the 2 chamber flowmasters, with an off-road x-pipe, with the fms Shortys

if i don't find something beter than that i'l get those, and i couldn't hear sound clips of the slp's they didn't have them

Agreed...

No drone here. Been running mine, bbk o/r h and SLP LoudMouth, for about 6months now, and have made a couple road trips with them.

I heard SLP's on an 03 cobra and it sounded like a truck was engine braking at times...

Your best bet is to listen to various setups and go with what you think sounds best.

Well I have the full SLP exhaust and I personally Like the sound of the full SLP exhaust with race pipes but would not want to here it everyday. I don't like to bring attention to myself  :dupe: I use SLP'S high flow cats most of the time keeps me street legal and sound is deeper and not as high pitch. Another great feature about SLP is they are very versatile. :thumpupn:

I'm quite happy with my SLP Loudmouth. I'd actually like it a little louder at idle, but she sure growls when I get on it. I didn't notice a drone, it's actually a little quiet inside the car for me at cruising speed... it's a hell of a lot louder and thicker sound than stock! Just my opinion, but I think Mustangs should be loud!

I have Mac Equal Length Headers, Custom Off-road X-pipe, Original 40 Series Flowmasters with turn downs (dumps). I love the way it sound with my cam at idle and sounds awesome at WOT. I get compliments all the time from other 5.0 guys. They all run tailpipes on theirs though. :nya:

I may have jumped in here to late, but do you a 4.6 or a 5.0? If you have 5.0 I think the best sounding mufflers are one chamber flows. If you have a 4.6 I would go with Borla. I am running stock headers and offroad H-pipe and borlas. The sound is awesome. It is queit when you want it to be, but very loud and noticable when you want that.
