And the only way I would let you keep it is if you put it ALL into either the performance aspect of your stang, or the cosmetic... which would you choose.

Let's say you had a bone stock mustang... The stang you have now, but just as if it was bone stock.

I would put 5 G's into the cosmetic I believe... Proally put 2 in a awesome system (with Laguna Seca R's custom rear seat delete of course), A few hundred in little details like painted interior, polished knobs, guages, ect.
Then prolly a grand in some wheels and tires. and a grand on a hood, front bumper, and side skirts... Prolly Cobra R hood, Roush Stage 3 Front facia, and some saleen side skirts...

Gotta do a couple appearance things, just to dress it up. Then go straight to work on the engine, probably a supercharger so when the guys on the street ask what I got, I can say a 6 but they wont know what hit em. LOL

Performance.... I know I need wheels and shit but I figure with all the money I win racing with my 5,000 motor, I can buy any wheels I want hehehehehe

I would look into Suspension, Exhaust , Better brakes , Gears , then N/A perf parts. what ever is left over then get the inside stuff your looking into. They are not that expensive when you get them one by one.

I would also suggest a KB for 5G but the stock brakes are crap and I would not wish you to have that kinda power with those crappy brakes.

What do you want more..Show or Go?

I would use this logic.
If you have enough cash to give out $5000, then you should have a lot more.
so I would buy a bat and then have the rest of the $ :w00t:

No seriously, I'm a ricer, so all apperance.

5K wouldnt cover it but I am sure I can come up with the couple hundred bucks difference. The list price on it is 4,899. I know because I am getting ready to buy one for real...

fuck the roots type blowers...too much money, why not just go with a procharger kit or a vortech kit for those that dont like self contained systems?

getting to me...i've got the cosmetics department finished for a while before i can afford another paint job.

as of now, the only thing i need is a DSS super pro bullet 331 short block, stuffed with a scat forged crank, manley rods, and probe pistons, with an FTI custom grind. i've already got the heads and manifold for the set up...its just a shame they arent getting used to their full potential on my stock block. with the remainder of it, i'd beef up my rear with an auburn diff, and 31 spline axles, or a 5 lug conversion with a baer kit.

KB > vortec > procharger

:D
i'm biased to procharger only because i've seen huge numbers made of their kits compared to vortech. roots type, i understand where you are coming from because you lack the displacement with your tiny 281, and feel inadequate, thus feeling the need to go and favor positive displacement 'chargers  but basically...i have a friend that used a 14# S-trim with aftercooler on his 91. stock block, punched .030 over, based on stock crank and rods, with new pistons, some blower cam, ported stock E7s, and a cut, ported, welded stock intake, and only made 42X whp being the best after 3 tunes. sold that kit, and went to a P1-SC kit with a 14# pulley and front mount intercooler, put him at 478 whp, untuned, and 50X whp with a single tune. now THAT my friend is why i put procharger over vortech, regardless of problems some people have had with the self contained oil system :w00t:

i am almost positive a decent 331 block with the right HCI combo (ex: systemax II intake, twisted wedge heads ported, custom FTI grind cam), and an intercooled D1 kit will put out in the upper 500s if not breaking the 600 mark with the right tune. i've seen a few roots type set ups on pushrod motors and they simply dont compete with centrifugal units. i've seen anything from 375whp to the best of mid 400s with the blowzilla unit on foxes...highly uninspiring...of course the torque curve looked beautiful, but i'd rather have a car that keeps pulling to 7k over a car that'll fall flat on its face after reaching 5500rpm. but then again...thats just me...theres nothing like smoking em at 70 mph

oh, and on another note. my brother has a focus. threw on a jackson racing blower thats been ported (similar to the 03/04 and lightning Apten modded blowers), running a custom ASP crank and 18# blower pulley and it ran well, smoked em well into 3rd but again, the car fell on its face. built up NA civic B18 cars and turbo integras were pulling him(rarely) or catching up at the top of 3rd going into 4th, after a decent lead going up to that point. went to the vortech shaft drive system, swapped pullies, with a custom tune, and the top end of the car was just amazing...car kept pulling and the power never stopped until the 7200 rev limiter.

so...in my opinion, Centrifugal>roots type

Well if you enjoy a honda type powerband thats cool and all. I'd rather enjoy full boost at 2 grand and have the much broader powerband. :D
