Been thinking lately about putting the snake up for sale and then looking to get into a 30-50s era convertable hot rod. Do you guys every get the feeling of doing something like this? Also do you think it would be taking steps backwards with getting into an old hot rod with everything I have done to my car and do you think our cars will someday be looked at like we look at the older era hotrods?

If your Cobra is your daily driver, I would advise against getting rid of it to get a hot rod... A hot rod is a car you own as a "toy" and keep in a nice, warm garage most of the time. Why don't you just save up to get the hot rod, being how it will be a project all on its own?

I am leasing a crew cab truck as of a couple weeks ago to help keep the milage down on the snake,. The thing that kills me is having a great car (most of the time) sitting in the garage and if I am only going to really drive a car on really nice days and weekends, should I look to get something more like a classic hot rod

That being the case, it's not a bad idea if it's what you really want. For an issue of preference, I wouldn't seek outside guidance... I'd ask myself. If your question were to be one of convenience, then I'd say ask around for options.
Picture yourself not having the Cobra and having a hot rod instead... Would you enjoy it more??? Would you miss the hell out of the Cobra and regret having the hot rod?? Would it get too old too fast, or would you feel about it the same every day you drive it?

Let us know what you decide! Hate to see you leave the Mustang family... Well, I'm not one to talk. :(
Hopefully I'll find a decent SN95 white vert GT or Cobra soon!

Ive been looking at Lightnings lately....I really dont want to get rid of the stang since I have put the last 3 1/2 years into it but the V6 is really getting old...I have looked at upgrading to a Cobra Vert and doing a saleen conversion on it but dollar wise I just dont think I have it in my budget to do something like that in my life...Insurance is cheaper on the lightning, still have the power, and I need a truck for fishing/camping etc.....Come this time next year I may have myself a new truck, hopefully I can figure a way out to keep the stang, id really like to see one of my future kids drive around in it one day and bring the same joy to them as it has brought to me over the years.....

i do have mustang love too, i bought one, remember? I used to drive an F150 too, but got rid of it when i got an 02 Silverado. Nothin wrong with a chevy, especially nothin wrong with a camaro...youre dumb if you dont know they have more balls than a mustang.

If they ever make next-gen camaro, and it comes out at least 85% like the car pictured above, I'll get a V6 as my new daily driver.
