I am not asking for votes, I am asking for you guys to check out the face -off and vote for the better ride...not your buddy. I've been reading some of these comments, and I thought I'd chime in...

This begging for votes stuff is for the birds. I feel like a political candidate more than a stang enthusiast-trying to give compliments to entice people to vote for your ride, or vice versa.

If you guys want real competition, you need to go to a local car show and enter your car. At least I think you'll get a better idea of how your car holds up. Do a car show that is not sponsored by a car club, etc. This is the best way to find impartial judges who can appreciate the time and effort (or lack thereof) you put into your ride.

There is certainly partiality here. You can't avoid it though. I get people PM'ing me all the time to ask me to vote for them. I admit I've done the same thing too, when I notice I'm getting beat by a stock or lightly modified V6, GT, or Cobra. The best advice I have, if you want to go look at stock cars, visit the Ford website and drool. Or go to your local dealership. If you want to see cars that took a lot of time, money, effort, and personal creativity and are truly one-of-a-kind, come to gotstangs.com and check out the radical things people have done with their stangs! :naughty:

There's some good stangs on this site, but which are consistently beat in face-offs since they are not as "popular" in the higher eschalons-they don't get the votes. I agree with one thing here: Vote your conscience, not your friends. And if your friend gets mad at you, then be a true friend and don't lie to them, but encourage them to keep on modifying! Their car can only get better! :w00t:

Heck, I was in a car show recently and ran into the same problem. Many of the participants were friends with a guy in my class who has a highly modified GT but not well done in my opinion. People look too much at all the flashy (read tacky in my opinion) mods and not enough at performance. I'm more a fan of the lean, mean, and clean look.

I don't care to take part in the face offs because it is such a popularity contest and I don't care to spam people's message boxes to win.

I know my car isn't the best one here but I've put in a lot of time and money to get to where it is now where a lot of others just pay someone to do all of the work.

See that brings up another point... Did the person do it themselves? The car may be 500 HP and looks so hot... but id detuct a few points just because they paid to have it done.

Not all of us can be motorheads, J. If I had a hydraulic lift and a place to put it, I might not to pay to have so much done. :)

Also, concerning carshows, I understand where you are coming from MachGT. But a carshow is about the visible presentation. It's really hard to "show" performance. Unless you have a chromed out engine bay, people don't really take the time or care to look. That's why the cars with the "flash" tend to win. People want to see what you can do to trick out your interior or paint job. Most of your highend carshows will have interiors completely rebuilt from the ground up. I admit I'm a flash guy and proud of it. That's where I decided I would start investing my time and money. It's hard to receive a compliment when you're driving 150 mph :)

If you're performance oriented, take your car to the track. I think with your setup, you'll get plenty of attention. I also wouldn't be frustrated about the car show thing and popularity contest that comes out of it (although easier said than done). I deal with that all the time. I lost at a car show recently where the car show sponsoring it had most of their cars involved in the judging. Therefore, I had little civics with a stereo and wheel kits beating me out owned by high schoolers. Kind of unfair, but typical from what I hear.

I understand that some people don't have the resources and/or are less mechanically inclined then others. heck, I had never done anything more to a car then change oil before last year. But I taught myself and had friends who knew what they were doing help me out when I hit a wall. So at this point I have learned a lot about it.

To anybody interested in doing the work themselves but worried that they don't have the knowledge or tools to do the job, I'd suggest you get involved in some local car clubs and meet some people that can help you out. I know a lot of people that love to get together and wrench on cars. Just pay for a couple cases of beer and everyone is happy!


I have no hydraulic lift either but I do have some resources at work that have been very helpful. I just use jackstands and floor jacks. Heck, I converted my floor jack into a transmission jack to put the tranny back in during the clutch swap. I'm just waiting to get it powdercoated before I take any pictures to show it off.

I definitely appreciate cars that look good as well, I'm just not a fan of the really outlandish things that people do.



My favorite thing to see with the face-off/tournament spam messages is when people say they will re-rank you if you vote for them. Pretty tacky if you ask me

Yeah, I'm not a fan of "too much" either. I saw an interior that was done entirely in crushed velvet. Now on a lowrider, ok. But in a regular old Oldsmobile, it's wierd. But different strokes for different folks. For some reason, that guy thought about that set up and in his mind a little light went off that said "OH YEAH!" :)

Probably with me is I'd be too scared to mess something up when it comes to mechanical stuff. I've changed out my taillights and done some small things, but nothing like taking out a transmission. That would scare me. I respect people like yourself who can do it.

Well "that guy" you're talking about a.k.a. 93Ramvert doesn't do that kind of stuff. I know and can vouch for him that he doesn't go out and sollicit votes based on his postings and conversations we've had. So if you lost, I would say you lost fair and square.

The problem most of us are having is with fake multiple accounts being set up by people who are then voting for themselves multiple times and people who are in a face-off spamming others to politick for votes when they know they can't win fairly. I know 93Ramvert doesn't do any of that. He's one of the people crusading for fairness.

And you really shouldn't be so open about who you lost to and your disagreement with the decision. That goes for everyone. It's not nice, cause in a way you're coming out and publicly saying you think your car is better. If you feel that way, do it anonymously by voting for yourself in the face-off. This way you avoid any blowouts or backlash and spare people's feelings who work really hard to get the results they have.

Trust me, I know how you feel. As you can see, I don't post much myself and don't really do anything else but read up on what everyone is doing.

i got upset when I was challenged...but that is done and overwith now...no biggie....but if others read the threads, they would know who likes the face offs and who doesn't...then again, that doesn't stop anyone from the callenge.

Has it been enabled to get permission for a face off from the one you challenged? or was that going to be in the works?

Both cars look good. I dont think anyone is saying that yours doesnt look good. The Thing is I have taken the extra time to check out your car cause I really like it. I remeber that one face off you were challenged in that had the pretty messed up title and you got pretty bent over that, which was totally understandable. You stated the mileage ( very low and im sure it still is) and I was shocked. The low mileage is another thing that I like about your stang because it is rare to find any car that age, older and even newer cars that have so few miles. This tells me that you really do take care of your car and someone like me can appreciate that and the effort you have put into your car.
