I was just wondering what i would need if it is even possible to connect my computer to my surround sound so i could listen to my music from my computer on the surround sound. If so how much do the parts cost. Thanks

cable is the cheapest way. i use a FM transmitter. it has a 1 mile range. So i use my PC to play my mp3 playlist, and i transmit it to my surround system. other transmitters are available that have a range of 30 feet or so, for about $25. the 1 mile range is about $170 and gives a far superior signal.
with the cable or transmitter, you'll need a 1/8 stereo "Y" spliter. it can be found at any radio shack. this will be used to keep your pc speakers and and the cable or transmiter plugged in.
i like the transmitter because you can transmit to any radio reciever. the cable will provide a "clean" signal, but not much.

Creative makes a wireless MP3 server. It's only like 100$, but from what I heard it's the easiest way to do it. The wire might be good, but if you're like me, your home surround system is out in another room and you don't feel like running cable! It's on my list of things to get, but with having Satellite radio, I just listen to that through the home system.
