use a joystick and learn to overbrake untill you get to know the track.

you can always give it more juice in the turns if you brake too much.. if you dont brake enough, you end up in the sand which kills your time. take a lap real slow... then, slowly progress... after 10 laps you'll be getting used to the track and you'll actually have your own "style"

Laguna Seca R and I raced a lot last night, it was his first time... with my help, he was pulling 1:58's after 9 laps.
