i've never been down there and stayed before, and have no clue where to stay distancewise from Gateway :(

I think for safety's sake we should be staying towards the west side, like around Maryland Heights. I got a room at the Courtyard for a couple of nights for $160. I think the car will be safe there...I think anyway. J, I'll be looking up you and your uncle if that turns out not to be tha case.
