where have you guys been lol....this has been around for months now lolTry a few years... There are people here in the states that breed them on purpose to make money and they've been doing it for quite some time. And the ligers get put down or spend their lives miserably when they get too big or too expensive or too aggressive and the novelty wears off.
They also breed Ligons... a cross between a male tiger and a female lion.
None of these animals exist in the wild and there is a reason for that.
Ligers grow much larger than tigers or lions. This is because female lions and male tigers transmit a growth-inhibiting gene to their descendants. Being the offspring of a male lion and female tiger, the liger does not have the growth-inhibiting gene and grows much more. They will grow constantly through their lifespan until their bodies cannot sustain their size anymore.

I'm guessing they get so big that their skeletal system can't support their own weight anymore.

also, if you want to get boring and technical, the reason why animals without growth inhibiting genes have a shorter life span is because all tissues in their body continue to grow. Eventually, this will cause complications with some of their vital organs, in paricular their hearts. An oversized heart will eventually not have enough strength to pump blood throughout their bodies, lowering their blood pressure and eventually causing other organs to fail due to lack of oxygen.
