Basically I drove my car kinda hard for like 5 minutes last night and now there is a little (very little) extra play on the wheel. Also, if I turn suddenly I hear wierd clunking and clicking noises. The car still handles well and has ful range of motion from lock to lock.

Any ideas?

I would say either the bearing in the column or maybe a burr on the splines.

Do you think it could be your cv joint on the front axle?
There is no front axle. unless he has all wheel drive.

Actually they don't have CV joints either.
Those come on independant suspensions and FWD cars. :D
It's OK, at least you didn't tell him to refill his blinker fluid.

Hahaha, I'm so used to front wheel drive cars that every time I've had a problem with clicking while turning it is always the stupid cv joints. I lowered my car and didnt even think of looking around underneath my car.. Ok so I'm a blonde on four hours of sleep.. :) Oh yeah check you blinker fluid that could be your problem... hahahaaaa

Bushings or a loose caliper.

If you have an 87-93 car the most likely problem is bad motor mounts (yes there is a reason and I will explain) a bad motor mount on the drivers side will cause the engine to sit lower, causing the header to hit the steering knuckle, this can be felt on hard turns and after getting on the car. You will not feel it while you are getting on the car because the tork of the motor lifts it off the header. Good way to tell is to look at your header for dents on the 2nd or 3rd one on the drivers side.
