Something outrageous (pink) would be kinda funny, just for the shock effect. I mean as long as you'd repaint it afterwards with gloss black.

Maybe a surveyor's neon day-glo color?
Have you guys thought about the firewall attachment much? It's easy to bolt in place with the dash removed, but then, that'd make it a royal PITA every time you wanted to take it back out. I used the brace from my 95 and fabbed up a mounting flange that stays permanently attached to the firewall, then I can just unbolt the thing underhood. A 95's design is a tad different though.

I'll be puting probably 4 selftapping metal screws in.

Probably not the best method, but I think that it will work fine.

The berrywine over silver, is that how you did the valvecovers?

Screws probably aren't strong enough, but if the strut towers are pretty rigid, I don't think it'll make a difference.

no, that is the cheap metalcast stuff from duplicolor. This summer they are comming back off and getting the same treatment.
Think of the brandywine candy that OCC used on their blackwiddow bike, only about four shades darker to make it really subtle and ritch.

With these screws, I bet it will hold fine. If I ever want to do any serious road racing, I'll just take that plastic thing off and weld in a plate with captive nuts to bolt to.

Cheap metalcast stuff doesn't look too bad in the pics. I've got some Fox aluminum valvecovers in the garage that may get treated to something like that.

I can't tell from the pics. Your brace is lining up over the plastic cowl piece? I'd just make the strut towers super strong and throw a couple screws in at the firewall to prevent rattles. Mine must mount a lot lower in the car. I just had to trim a little bit off the plastic piece to accomodate my brace.

I just made it so that it would set on that little shelf. made it easier to fit. I'm bolting it into the strut towers in four or five places each. two on top and two or three on the bottom.

That's the advantage of a custom one. Make one that clears it. :thumpupn:
