Over the last two years since it came out (I have bumper #3) I have only seen eight other cars with the kit. I believe that makes it the rarest body kit for the mustang. :devil:

my HAND MADE shifter
my HAND MADE speaker boxes
my HAND MADE style bar
and as soon as they are done:
my HAND MADE strut tower braces front and rear
my second HAND MADE speaker boxes
my HAND MADE engine bay covers
and anything else that I plan to fabricate.

My father is a cabinet maker. I grew up doing that. Me and him just remodeled our kitchen, including tearing our 1.5 walls to make room, in two weeks. Looks damn good too. I just don't like wood because it won't cooperate like metal will. If you put to much shape into wood, you have to scrap the piece. With metal you just reshape it.

I'm thinking about getting myself a small mill and a lathe. There's a ton of stuff I'd like to fab up for the car. My welding just plain sucks though. Think it has a lot to do with my POS Craftsman wirefeed welder though :)

Funny about the home remodeling, that room my desk was sitting in is what I'm finishing up at the moment. Appraiser says it was smart move, added 20K to value of the house, I've only laid out about $2700 so far. (could have bought a Dart racing block instead) That's as good as money in the bank! I can't figure out why everyone doesn't do everything for themselves...

Ya a lot to welding is the matterial you work with. I have always worked with ARC in my past, which is a biach to get right, so when I learned MIG it was easy. I have a brand new gasless wirefeed miller that I still havn't tried at home, so I don't know how that will act.

Is MIG pretty easy to get the hang of? Is that what the guys on American Chopper are doing? Seems a lot more controlled and easier to see what's going on. I can't see squat with mine, I stitch a little, look at it, stitch a little more, look again. It's a PITA. You can do aluminum with that setup too, right?

Ya what they do is MIG. That is really expensive though. The Argon gas that they use is $125 a bottle. That's why I'm going with the gasless wire feed.
It's really easy to control because you have a trigger. You can put it where you want to start before you do, unlike ARC.
If you don't have one already, get an auto darkening helmet. Well worth the money because you can be working straight without havning to flip up your mask. Ya, MIG can do aluminium, and gasless should be able to as well(I have some wire for it, but I don't know if I want to try it. lol.)

On American Chopper they also use TIG(the one with the seperate wire that you hold and the foot pedal) That is supposed to be the hardest to do.

Ya, supposedly it works just like the flux on ARC rods, but those splatter like crazy and make a really strong, but ugly weld, so I don't know what this will look like. Without the positive pressure of the gas to control the splatter only an ambient gas, I can only hope that it makes nice dime-stack welds. :nailbite:

18 grand would build the most badass blower motor for my car and leave enough for 6 piston alcons and 14" rotors. Oh, lightweight racing seats too. Man, I'd still have cash leftover. I'd get some new rims (11" wide out back for sure)

i used one of those today out at my grandpas. He had me help him fix some of his bale feeders that were fallin apart. It worked like a charm, the beads werent that pretty but it definitely did the job pretty well.

I also used my dads auto darkening helmet that he "borrowed" from work. I used to hate them, but this one is about 100 times better than the one i used before.

Yeah, there is hardly any splatter associated with it. I just hate that I can't see the puddle. I usually do little stitches, overlapping them. Then when I get all done, I bust out a grinding die and clean everything up. Then it looks like someone with a little bit of skill did some welding...

i could see a puddle :hmmm: I might have had a lighter setting on my mask though. I didnt care too much how my welds looked, i was just welding a bale feeder, and i dont think the cows care.

Ya, That's the welding that I did for years for my grand father. He seemed to have a love afair with rod, iron fenses. :rofl: we were building these right up to the day he sold his land.

I need to learn to make nice welds though for all of the work that I will be doing on my car, at shows everyone will see them, and a nice weld looks better than no weld at all to people that are looking for it. Because that shows skill in the fabrication, and if the Judges know that you made it, then they can appreciate the work, which in the end gets points. :w00t:
