I saw this on another site and was wondering if I should code it into our site... its kinda like 1 on 1 car show.. you chose someone to 'battle' then they accept.. and people vote on which car they like better... sounded kinda cool to me... I dunno maybe we could think of our setup?

Sounds like a good idea to me, we could also do something similar with the monthly car show winners, just gotta keep the wars between similar cars cause my stock stang wont come close to most of the cars on here...

this is how it works...someone sends a challenge to another member for a certain amount of 'points' and the other person can accept or decline...

then, on the face-off screen both cars and their specs are displayed and the members vote for their favorite...

it will basicly turn into a giant popularity contest, but it's very fun

that sounds good! i dont think you should break it up into categories though.i think it should be a free for all.

i think the people on here can appreciate the work done to a car ,not just because its a gt,cobra,v6 etc.if you look at erics,codys,stang 38l.i would put them up against alot of cars on here.regardless of model

The battle will have two time limit options.. either 24 hours or 48 hours.. then its taken off the battles page and points are given out.

Maybe you should have an entry form for it. Just a page like the registy page that has specific catagories.
Such as:
What do you concider your cars best quality? Worst?
have a block for coments, etc.

This will start each car out on it's best foot and give an equal stance.
You can make it so that you do this once in your website editor or something like that. If you just linked the chalenge to the contestants sites, I think that it would be to much like the ranking system rather than a completely different challenge system.

I made it so the person could not make a face-off challenge more then once.. but didnt make it so they could not be challenged more then once.. I will make feex...

Final question before I make this live. Should the loser of the face-off lose the points wagered? Or should they lose points only if the challenger loses.

Does this make sense?

If the challenger wins then he gets the points and the person who was challenged doesnt lose or gain points.

BUT.

If the challenger loses then he should lose the points and the person who was challenged doesnt lose or gain points.

i say if you challange somebody and you do not win you lose points and the other person gets them. But if you have somebody challange you that you know has a lot better car and wagers 50 points you can not say no to the face off so you are pretty much screwed so i say that you maybe lose half of the points wagered. I dunno kinda have it so where it is more than nothing or people will not challange other people.

Well that was the point.. I dont want some decked out car challenging all the stock cars and reducing their rank to 0. I still like the idea if the challenger loses... hes the one that loses the points. If the person who is challenged loses, then the challenger just gets the points that he wagered and the person who was challenged doesnt lose any points.

If the challenger loses, they lose say 25 points to the opponent.If they win, give them like 10 points.That way, you have to be pretty sure of yourself to instigate a "faceoff".

OK, you can view any face-off now even when the 24 hour display period after completion is over. If you goto your website you can click on the blue pony and it will show you the results of the face-off... this works on anyones website... enjoy. :)

Thinking about handing out 1 rank point for each face-off you vote on... any comments? This should help get the face-off votes up :)

hmmm that woudl not be a bad idea. I vote on them all the time. But if you do that more peopel are likley to vote often. Also i think you should have somethign that reminds you who you voted for maybe move the thing that says you have already voted to the top or bottom (Acordign to who you voted for) I dunno just an idea.

If you goto someones page it will tell you that you voted... I would rather not setup a page that shows who you voted for... it kinda takes away from lookin at peoples cars.. instead of going to someones car just because you havent voted for them.. i dunno.

This is the solution... if you have more points then the person you can only challenge them if they have 100 less points. So.. you can challenge anyone with more points then you.

This will keep down on the big guys pickin on the little guys but allows for the newer members to go up against the big guys :)

It shows in the bottom of the screen for each user how each person has done, and if you hover your mouse over the blue horse, it tells you faced... No need to really worry about a past complete history that I can think of.
