0000 steel whool for cleaning windows and chrome... thoughts?

Does anyone have experience cleaning chrome, windows with 0000 steel wool??

I have used steel wool to clean chrome in the past. It works really well. I would probably not use it in glass, and I would check my wheels carefully to make sure they do not have a coating on them before hitting them with steel wool.
